every dog i've ever had has been a rescued dog. they truly are the best! those of us who have rescued them have found an unusual trait. they actually show or seem to feel gratitude. there is a difference, however slight, that you can see in their actions. my sweet zeke had had his ribs broken, they thought from being kicked. they never healed right. it never affected his wagging though! not only his tail, but his whole self wagged! (remember wilfanddigby.blogspot.com?) that's what my zekey looked like... just like wilf. a polish lowland sheepdog.
whether pure bred, or little mutt (and kitties too) they just add so much to life, i cannot imagine the world without them.
they are more than animals to me. they are loving spirits in fur.
thank you so much for this post. thank you monk!
and thank you for the work you do in helping to find them homes.
love,
tammy j

Sherry,
Someone from our local Friends of the Shelter sent it to all of us. If I ever get a dog it would be from the shelter. Some of my happiest moments have been working with animals over there. Also my granddogs have been rescue animals.

Jean,
This was beautiful, I wish that it could be posted in every vet clinic, shelter, dog park, where ever people who love dogs could see this. Thank you for posting. I have made the decision to adopt any future dogs rather than visit a breeder to purchase a dog. These dogs need us much more.

Yes they do, everyday I log on Facebook I see a miracle, a unwanted dog or cat find a forever home. Actually at the Jamestown Humane Society where I volunteer at too. Every other sunday I go and play with the kitties. That is where I found Miss Garfield and Gretchen. And everyday they brighten my day with their love.

Just reading made want to hug my dog, and thank the Lord, that we found each other at the Humane Society near me. :)

What an awesome story Jean. Thank you for sharing it.
Time and again, I think that my dogs and my cat have really rescued me - their unspoken loyalty and warmth goes a long way!

Mayas last blog post..<a href="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/ThinkMaya/~3/479862758/" rel="nofollow">A Simple Happiness Equation: A Picture</a>
