Life Is For the Birds Revisited

Original from the internet via bikehikebabe. Labels by Jean Browman.

I used this picture without the labels in When Life Is For the Birds. It has even more meaning for me now.

Update: This post was written before President Obama excoriated the financial executives for being so greedy. Maybe there is some hope there after all.

Thanks to bikehikebabe, Evan and rummuser for commenting on last week’s post.

    Love the pic.

If anyone thinks that sermonising against greed brings change they’re delusional. There have been no shortage of sermons in the past and look where we are. It is systemic change that is required.

If the good President can squeeze some of the bonuses out of the greedy guys, then he will be walking the talk. Otherwise, what is in it for the taxpayer?

    Interesting picture.

I do think that there is hope. I didn’t see the Presidents full statement, but what I saw on the news certainly got my attention.

    Evan,
I don’t believe Obama thinks that sermonizing is enough. He wants to make big changes in how things are done. Whether or not he’ll succeed is another matter. We shall see. We’re living in revolutionary (hopefully peaceful) times.

    rummuser,
Congress tried to limit executive compensation in firms accepting taxpayer money, but Bush managed to sidestep the rules. As I understand it, Obama wants to have stricter restrictions. Again, we shall see.

    Mike,
    We’ll all be watching. šŸ™‚

Obama is speaking on the news right now. “We are in the worst financial crisis in the history of our country.” With the numbers coming in now, it must be worse than The Depression.

But we must look on the bright side. It’s a beautiful day & it’s Superbowl Sunday. šŸ™‚

  6. Jean says:

šŸ™‚ Yes. Might as well enjoy it if there’s nothing we can do about the crisis. “Happy the man and happy he alone….”
