Time for Another Post Already?

We actually have a set of house/cabin plans now. (The structure is only 768 square feet.) We may change some details, but they should be enough to start applying for a building permit. The interesting thing is since we don’t have a house address or lot number, Sandoval County wanted a survey of our land. Just a receipt from the taxes we’ve been paying for the past 35 years wasn’t enough. Fortunately we had a survey made years ago and could actually find it. That saved a lot of time and money.

I spent a lot of time looking at siding colors today, and tried seeing how they might look up on our land:

The colors probably aren’t accurate, but they’re better than nothing. And it does keep me off the streets and out of trouble. 😀

Is time whizzing by for you too?

I wish that time would whizz faster! It is now Friday late evening and I go to the hospital on Monday early morning. It will be the 5th or the 6th of October by the time I return home and heaven knows how long more before I get to being normal again!

Rummuser, what’s happening in the hospital?

    Autumn tan matches the road–nice.
Chestnut brown sticks out like a sore thumb–not nice.
Khaki brown blends in the best–excellent.
    Cobblestone doesn’t blend–not so nice.

Time is whizzing by like lightening. Too fast for late in life. I could sit & watch the clock. That would slow it. 🙂

My dear BHB, the most fool proof recipe I have found, all my life, for slowing down time is simple: Wait for something. Wait. Just wait.

It’s incredible: Time will slow down to a snail’s pace and a very slow snail at that. Practically in reverse gear.

Hope you manage to get it all done – details aren’t my thing!

    Rummuser,
Good luck! As I’ve said, I think of you often.

    bikehikebabe,
I agree, sitting and watching the clock is a sure way to slow things down. Keeping involved speeds things up.

    Ursula,
It seems to me waiting is another way of watching the clock instead of immersing yourself in some project and forgetting about time.

    Evan,
Thanks. There are definitely a lot of details to think about!

You asked, “Is time whizzing by for you too?”

It depends, I guess. Sometimes it whizzes by and sometimes it crawls. It depends on what’s happening. For instance, before we left on our trip, it seemed like ages since had been traveling, yet it was only last summer. On the other hand, we’ve only been gone from home three weeks, but we’ve done and seen so much that it seems longer than that. Also, since I’m now in a different mode of living, it seems like a long time since my most recent work contract finished.

We had a long almost 5 days of essentially no internet access because of travel and days of camping inside Arches National Park. We’re now in a commercial campground near Moab and may stay a week.

While the actual progression of time on the surface of this planet is very stable, it is somewhat amazing how the perception of this constant can vary.

    Mike,
I must say I’m hooked on the internet. It’s a real blessing when doing research for various parts of the house.

    Everyone,
I phoned Ramana tonight (September 29th his time) and he said the operation went well and he’s receiving physical therapy. Things are going well, and he sounded fine. I’m happy that the long waiting is over for him and he can start the healing process.
