Getting Ready

Just in case it snows Andy has put the snow plow on the truck and has put heavy wood in the back for more traction.

If it does snow we don’t expect it to be more than Andy can handle. So we went to Santa Fe today to buy a card table and chairs and also a shower curtain and rod so Kaitlin, Torben and the puppies can spend Christmas night up there.

Are you getting ready for anything?

Thanks to bikehikebabe, Cathy and Rummuser for commenting on last week’s post.

    Christmas… 😉

Need to get ready for the possibility of snow here, too. Truck needs new tires.

  2. Rummuser says:

I was a boy scout! I am always prepared. I am a modest guy.

  3. Evan says:

Not preparing for anything here at the moment.

Hope you get it all done so it’s ready for Christmas and family.

    Mike,
Yes, it’s best to plan ahead. 🙂

Andy said one winter when he was a kid he and his father visited a cabin in Montana. Everyone was huddled in bed under the covers. After Andy’s father knocked the guy got up and let them in, then he went out and shook the snow off some wood, then brought it in and built a fire. we like to plan ahead a bit more than that.

    Rummuser,
Not too modest, I hope. We’re sill looking forward to that video of you belly dancing.

    Evan,
Thanks, but I’ve already finished Christmas shopping, wrapping, etc. Just have to send out a few cards. I’ve never been one to participate in the Christmas rush/craziness.

I’m getting ready to try my hand at painting again. I’ve had some return of feeling to the right arm and hand; I’m so excited!!
We had snow for 15 minutes… I was so ready for snow cream. Not yet!!

I’m getting ready for the return of Summer! But other than that looking forward to more time for me…as “recess” of certain parts of my life move into being…

  7. Jean says:

    Dixie,
I’m excited for you too! That must have been scary to lose the feeling in your arm and hand.

    Cathy,
Yes, I thought of you and Evan starting summer instead of winter. Glad you’re having more time to choose how you spend your time. For me that’s the height of luxury.

Jean: The problem here in recent years, seems that Spring weather of showers and intermittent warmth has continued over into Summer. However, http://www.nzhistory.net.nz/media/photo/pohutukawa-flowers which are our unofficial Xmas tree is now in full bloom which usually equates to a long, hot, summer…I have one of the berm outside my neighbours place and even though it is around a decade old it’s covered in glorious red ‘blooms’

  9. Jean says:

    Cathy,
Andy and I like cool summers. We wilt in the heat. Thanks for the link—it sounds like a gorgeous tree.

  10. Cathy in NZ says:

I prefer dry heat to humidity and Auckland does humidity 90% of the time…with a seemingly welcome burst of rain in late arvo which usually is quick and then the humidity jumps up many more notches!
