A Somewhat Educational Weekend

It was one of those weekends:

I Try to Take One Day at a Time, but Sometimes Several Days Attack Me at Once.
Ashleigh Brilliant

For some reasons a number of things were acting funny on my Mac, starting with it hanging up when I was trying to empty Trash. I’ll spare you the details — it took me the usual long hours to get it straightened out, but things seem to be working normally again.

In the meantime Andy found a UPS notice lying on the porch. It said the driver had tried to deliver a package Friday but the seller required that we sign in person. Huh? We haven’t ordered anything expensive enough to warrant that. I signed on to ups.com to see the tracking information, but it didn’t say who the seller was. So I checked Amazon to see it it was from them. Bingo! It was a pack of 16 wooden hangars for $16.97. So I phoned Amazon, who phoned UPS, etc. The UPS fellow said it was the driver’s discretion whether or not to leave a package at an apartment building. The Santa Fe office was closed for the weekend, but he said they would phone 10 am Monday morning to verify we wanted it delivered. We’ll just sign the info notice and leave it on our door. We’re in no hurry for the hangars, so we’re not about to spend any more time on the matter. It’s probably just a new driver who doesn’t know the route.

So that all took a good chunk of time, but as usual I learned some new things. Some of which might actually be useful in the future. I’m not about to complain after what tammy has been going through. Get well soon, tammy!

What about you? Was your weekend fun? Educational? Frustrating? Productive? Or?

Took time out for a holiday before we start packing and moving. So a good deal of fun. And we used it to explore a place where in the long-term we might move to – so educational and productive as well.

still nausea from the anesthesia but as soon as that’s out of my system i’ll be back on track.
YOU are my teacher of patience. once again in this post i see it in action.
i truly am getting better. i can see it compared to months ago. depending on the test of course. LOL.
ups does not deliver stuff here if the office is closed. they knock once and then take it back. they used to just leave it at my house! oh well. see. getting better at it. lol.

Be thankful UPS doesn’t leave it at the door. I mailed my daughter a new wedding dress along with an “antique” family crocheted jacket. Someone stole it from the door. But that was Cleveland. Her husband who has always lived there said “You have to be tough to survive Cleveland.” 😀

You’ve been through enough without the nausea. I remember you talking about it earlier, but I was hoping it wouldn’t happen. Anyway, I’m glad it’s almost over!

We would have to change our shopping habits if UPS didn’t leave packages. They used to give us a batch of forms so we could fill one out, sign it, and leave it on the door. Then they decided signatures weren’t necessary, they would just leave the package. I thought the old system made more sense.

But this is only the second time we’ve had trouble with the new system. The last time it was a new driver and the UPS gal in Santa Fe said they would have the packages left at the doorstep, unless the shipper needed a personal signature. I’m not expecting this to be a big deal. Your situation would be a much bigger problem.

    bikehikebabe,
No, I’m glad UPS leaves our packages. And I’m grateful I don’t live in Cleveland!

I learnt on Sunday morning that what I think are plain concrete blocks are called cinder blocks if you are from Canada! I didn’t expect any education on the matter, rather a very nice buyer would take away 11 of them…

I have also learnt this morning, that “everyone” must have a smartphone and not rely on a landline or heaven forbid an email! Said lass, has bought a basket-like box from me – but somehow picking it up at in her timeframe doesn’t seem to be happening. Even her name “Hope” gives me none…

So the Spring Clearing is going well, I have found a lot of treasures, objects as well. These items that are going to new homes, are items that I would love to keep – if I was going to do xyz OR they are just not needed…

That’s great that the cleaning is going well. The young lady sounds like a character. We’re so ancient and out of it here we even have a dial wall phone. Dial? What’s that?
