A Great Day

We had some gentle rain, which is always heavenly. And Andy brought back two more pictures of flowers struggling to survive:

Plus when I went to the store I ran into a woman who had taken the classes I taught/groups I led after I retired 20 years ago. I hadn’t seen her in several years now, and I had been planning to phone her because her youngest daughter just graduated from high school. It was nice getting caught up. She said she had been meaning to phone me too. A discussion about journaling came up in a group she’s in, and she started telling them about the different kinds of journals, etc. They had her give a two-session class on the subject. I was impressed that she knew so much. For the life of me I couldn’t remember more than one kind of journal, although I remembered I had had a book on the subject. Then she said it was easy — she looked through the book she had made of all the handouts I had given out over the years, and there it all was.

What a hoot! Needless to say, it made my day. The classes were in an area I was passionate about, and I’m thrilled she cares too. And that she’s passing it on to others. Yes, it was a great day.

My house guests had to go to Ahmedabad and I had to speak to some friends there to arrange for their accommodation, transport etc and they were delighted that I got in touch with them after so many years. My friend Ramesh with a large van came along to help me drop off the guests at the airport and from there we went over to an ashram to buy some books where we unexpectedly met and got to know the Swami in charge. A very interesting morning indeed followed by a grand lunch at a mall with some unusual food and all in all, a great day for me too.

I was in Jean’s class. She told me about it when we were walking back from Stone Lions (16 mi. round trip) ahead of the rest ’cause we were so fast. I thought the class cost $$ & I’m a cheap skate so I didn’t join until later when she told me it was free.

Tom told me how much we’ve got!!! And I’d make such a good poor person. Now I’ll buy blueberries even tho’ every other fruit is soooo much cheaper. 🙂

I need to have my head examined. It’s Mother’s fault. 😀 Her father was a school teacher, got crippled with parkinson’s disease, lots of kids in the family, they didn’t have a lot & she raised me to be this way. 😀

Mother claims that it happened because I got a weekly 10 cent allowance & I had to keep an expense account.

    • Jean says:

Yeah, sure. Your mother’s fault. 😀

Kaitlin got 10 cents for an allowance too, and it was worth a lot less than when you were a kid. She had to keep track of where she spent it too. She has a great balance between spending to enjoy the present while still saving for the future. At our ages, we don’t have to worry about saving for the future — just not getting too carried away.

  4. It really is always good to catch up with a friend–I feel like that with blogging!

I hope the rest of your weekend is just as enjoyable! Take care, okay?

That’s the kind of blogging I like too. I hope your weekend gave you a chance to relax a bit. You’ve been going through a lot.

I mostly played with my oil pastels. No worrying about my lack of talent, just enjoying the process. Colors really turn me on.
