Cutting a Cake

Somehow I don’t think this idea is going to catch on, especially if you use and cut the rubber bands each time:

I don’t like cake, so it’s no problem for me. Do you like cake? Desserts? If so, what’s you favorite kind? Would you ever follow this fellow’s suggestion?

Like you, the last thing you are apt to ever find on my plate is a slice of cake or a dessert however, I thought that quite a clever and unique way to keep a cake fresh.

As to the cake/dessert issue in general, I have and have had my entire life a complete dislike for “sugar”. With regard to my taste buds it is the most disgusting tasting stuff on this green earth. Therefore, I eat nothing where there is the slightest taste of the dreadful stuff in food or drink. I have never even drunk a soda pop in my entire life – yuk! 😀

      Way to go!

Ice cream is the most disgusting. You can’t taste the flavor for the sugar.

Lucky you! I used to have a horrible sweet tooth when I was young, but it went away years ago. What are your favorite kinds of food?

    • Alan G says:

My diet, especially due to the fact that anything ‘sweet’ was off the table, is fairly limited I suppose as compared to the average person. I enjoy all meats to include fish, chicken, pork and beef; rice and potatoes are a mainstay; a few select vegetables and that is really pretty much it. 🙂

i love the british! how wonderful to take such a mundane thing and turn it into a serious scientific experiment.
except… has he never heard of nice clean plastic sealed containers? keeps things from drying out just beautifully! and no rubber bands sacrificed! LOL.
and wilson… never a soda in your whole life??? WOW!
i like pie and cobblers more than i do cake. but i don’t like any of them them too sweet.
but ice cream? the fudgecicle or the dreamscicle… oh what a delight of childhood!

    • Jean says:

My reaction was the same as yours. Why not put it in an air-tight container? And ice cream used to be one of my favorite foods. I no longer like the sweetness of it, but I do love the texture.

    • tammyj says:

      well…
i call it ice cream. it’s actually frozen yoghurt. yogurt? yoghurt.
the older i get the less i can spell!!!! LOLOL.
the frozen yogurt is not nearly so sickeningly sweet. agree about the ice cream.

    • Jean says:

      Frozen yogurt. Yes!

In my home, the problem will not arise. If a cut is ever cut, it will be eaten up totally by all present and it that is not possible, will be given away to the help to take home.

I’ve never liked cake & I wouldn’t cut one using rubber bands. Though I do have a supply of big rubber bands & I enjoy making use of what I’ve got.
Dark chocolate pie with heavy whipped cream would be good if I were hungry. But I’d make Mother’s raw peach pie. Only the peaches are raw. The crust is cooked first. Topped with heavy whipped cream, of course.

I don’t like desserts. Once I went to a potluck that was a dessert potluck that I hadn’t realized. I was really hungry so I ate it all. I got a tingling buzz all over my body. Felt weird!

    • Jean says:

If I’m hungry the last thing I want is something sweet. But as you say, sometimes you don’t have a choice. That was a weird reaction you had.

Goodness, how can you not like cake? There are so many different kinds to choose from. Personally anything with chocolate or cream or fancy icing will do me nicely. As for slicing a cake, Jenny and I just cut whatever size we fancy. Why be scientific about it?

  6. Cindi says:

ok, my answer to this is – cupcakes.
    no slicing involved.
That being said, who puts their cake in the frig?!
    Ick.
It would absorb odors from the frig!
    yep, gross.
But not as sickening as a guy putting rubber bands from who knows where on his cake
and licking his fingertips and then pushing the cake back together with his hands.
Truly, he would not have to worry about me wanting to share that cold crusty germy funny tasting cake.
    Gag.
    I prefer pie.
Cherry mostly. Maybe a fresh strawberry pie with whipped topping in the summer.
    and I must add….
People who don’t like sugar? Wow, I bow to your ability not to crave it.
I wish I hated it, but
    I’m addicted.
    Addicted bad.
