Downpours

As we can see from the pictures Andy took of distant downpours, they tend to be localized rather than over a large area.

Hopefully that means the one that drenched us on the way home from the supermarket tonight didn’t wipe out the roads on the way to our land. I had already asked Andy to take pictures of how the road looks since Tuesday’s rain/hail. He says if we had a gully washer this time, he won’t need to be reminded.

As usual, the adventure continues.

Forecast calls for a coming week of rain, here. I like to watch the storm clouds travel. Hopefully they’ll not sit on my land very much or for very long.
My passion has been gardening – something so foreign, and yet – gotta have have the rain too. I’ve been on a mission to abolish weeds and vines. I refer to it as detangle-ling my life. (Is that a word?) Hope you’re doing well, Jean.

They’re forecasting more rain here, too. They don’t know where, but they expect some areas to get heavy downpours from slow-moving storms. It’s just a matter of luck who gets hit.

Thanks for coming by! Yes, things are going well here.

I hope your any rain you get is the beneficial kind, not any that scours barren soil.

We just had a couple of days of rain, fortunately light — we didn’t need any more downpours. July was a the third wettest in recorded history for Little Rock. I’m pretty sure it was wetter here. The last two days of July struggled to get above 70°F.

Hopefully, the soils in the burnt areas where your land is will be stabilized soon with new vegetation and the problems with the road will be reduced.

The road problems are a lot less than right after the fire. The gully washers that year were really impressive — enough to completely wash out some roads. Last year we did major work on a part of the road that was in danger of being completely washed away. So far this year the improvements seem to have been good enough, or else we were lucky where the rain dropped! We’ll just have to see.

Those are very nice photographs and we get to see very similar ones when we drive out of the city during the monsoon. We also get to see odd things like part of the city getting a drench while other parts don’t. Classic is when my daughter in law speaks to her mother who lives in another part of the city and complains about the rain whereas the mother is flummoxed!

That’s what’s going on here. We really got dumped on here last night, but had very little up on the land. That’s the ideal situation as far as I’m concerned. 🙂

We cancelled our local newspaper since now we get news two places online. Rarely, the local paper leaves us one to entice us back when there is important news. Like World War 111? —-NO.

We got a paper last night. “RAIN pummels……” (leaving out town name for safety). Headline news for our dryness. Now it’s GREEN GREEN GREEN everywhere.
