Losing Things

bikehikebabe says her neighbor found his driver’s license — it was in his wallet in his suitcase. I’m so relieved for him. I don’t know exactly when he’s leaving on his trip, but there wouldn’t be that much time to get another ID.

I hate losing/misplacing things, and when I was younger I had a lot more problems with that than I do now. I’m not naturally an organized person, but I’ve saved myself a lot of grief by working on it.

What about you?

I rarely lose things but forget to who I have lent my books! Often unable to remember who has borrowed a book I need to read again, I end up buying a second copy only to get the borrowed book returned!

rummuser: apparently you should now take picture with your smartphone of the person borrowing the book! Not that I have a smart phone 🙂 this came about when a pal on f/b who lives outside Auckland but has many of his local friends on f/b made a call out for his jigsaw gadget…which he had lent someone! Finally someone replied…

I’m almost the most disorganised person as well, I still can’t locate where I put a whole lot of sewing machine thread…had to succumb to the local fabric shop but bought the smallest reels they had. In the process of trying to locate them, I did however find a whole lot of iron-on interfacing and some soluble tissue – that was a good find as well, as it is related to the thread above!

I admit I’m a hoarder of certain items….and because of my financial circumstances I am often gifted items; many of them very useful in my craft/art life. If not I pay them forward to a church/op shop 🙂

At the moment I’m going through drawers, storage boxes, and closets and am recycling, reorganizing, and tossing. Like you, I’m also finding useful things I had forgotten I had. It’s not my favorite occupation, but it helps a lot in remembering where things are.

my worst habit is a little about losing i guess. . . mainly though i would say . . .
forgetting it. and that’s my purse. i’m the WORST about leaving it behind.
i don’t like carrying one anyway. but pockets are not the answer. too much i need.
    and i wouldn’t like bulging pockets. so . . . i now make a mental note . . .
PICK UP YOUR PURSE! good grief. how hard is it?
    apparently very hard. LOL.

I have a small backpack, so I wear it and don’t have to put it down. I, too, would have trouble forgetting a purse.

    • Cathy in NZ says:

My sister has a kind of purse you sling over your neck/shoulder so it’s always in front of her and she doesn’t have to put it down…it’s not a back pack type. It has lots of slots and pockets in which makes her feel more secure when she is out… it fits snuggly so it doesn’t flop about either…

For me it is out of sight; out of mind. So having things where I can see them is the way I cope.

(According to Barbara Arrowsmith-Young this is a particular kind of neurological deficit.)

Cathy, brilliant suggestion. If I remember to do that that is!
