Useless Knowledge?

As I’ve said before, I love finding useless knowledge and sharing it with others. So I was tickled by this piece from Goodreads two days ago:

February 6, 1937: John Steinbeck’s novel, Of Mice and Men, was published 78 years ago today. It might have been published earlier if his new puppy, Toby, hadn’t chewed up half the manuscript, setting Steinbeck back two months.

But if it lifted my spirits and made me laugh, was it really so useless after all?

Ranjan has just returned from a pet adoption camp and tells me that twelve pups found new homes. That is quite an achievement here. Now twelve persons better watch out if they are ambitious writers!

and that is a wonderful bit of ‘useless knowledge!’

      I agree. Yay, Ranjan!

Only two months to rewrite the manuscript? Obviously a small price to pay for having a puppy. 😀

    Not useless at all.

great history – so puppies in those days were the forerunners of the puppies of today who do just as many things of that nature…my friend in Aussie has to have her couch repairs when Charlie (dogs name) decided that the stuffing should be removed from the arm rest!
