Poor Pussy Willow

When Andy went up to the land Sunday the net protecting the pussy willow was gone, and the bottom branches had been nibbled on.

So yesterday he put a net most of the way around the lower branches. The new net wasn’t quite long enough to go completely around, so today he’ll buy a second one and finish the job. The pussy willow is precious to us — Kaitlin picked it out and helped plant it when she was just a kid. We were all thrilled when it came back after the fire, and she and Torben have cuttings of it growing in their back yard in Illinois.

We have no idea who took the old net — this is the first time we’ve had that particular problem. Any weird goings on in your neck of the woods?

As I came out of the dentist’s clinic just opposite to my home yesterday evening, there was a complete cordoning off of the road for 100 mts of either side of the local bank also just diagonally opposite to my home. We were told that there was a bomb scare and there was a bomb disposal squad working inside the bank there were Rapid Action Force police and local police station cops all lolling around armed to their teeth and traffic was piling up behind the cordons. After half an hour or so we were told that someone had just left a harmless briefcase in the bank which no one claimed and the bank had reported the matter to the police. This is now SOP when suspicious things are noticed anywhere in India. About midnight, I got a phone call from a more curious neighbour waking me up to inform me that it was a mock drill!

    wow. rummy’s story.
although given today’s climate of weirdness… suppose it’s better to err on the side of being prepared and cautious. one never knows.
    and the pussy willow….
    sad.
after two years of trying to keep flowers alive on my balcony i will give it up.
it’s too sad to see them struggle just to survive let alone thrive.
it’s too hot. no shade. and no way to give them shade. we cannot put up things like a screen or such. so far… i have given them away when i saw they were at death’s door.
    won’t even try this year.
could you take a cutting of the pussy willow and plant it somewhere on the grounds near your apartment? that would be nice. and still have the strong sentimental value of it protected.

The deer (we’re assuming it was them) didn’t nibble all that much. As long as the net goes back up the pussy willow should be fine.

I’m sorry you can’t grow plants on your balcony. Maybe something small would work inside?

I’ve got a continual problem with my neighbour in the front house – nice guy who gives me this internet connection via a link with his one BUT I’m tired of my driveway being used for staff and customer vehicles – customer vehicles are always taxis.

Long drawn out tale…something needs to be done! How I don’t know I’ve tried have I bl**dy tried!!
