Parade Of Storms

Headline in our local online newspaper:

Parade Of Storms To Continue Through Sunday

Yes, winter has returned. (Andy would say arrived, since we didn’t have much earlier.)

2-27-15-Winter

He was late getting up there yesterday because he had to jump start a car — it often won’t start when it’s very cold. He thinks a computer doesn’t shut off and drains the battery — he’ll bring it back to the shop Monday so they can try again.

He had to plow when he got up there, and it was more difficult than usual because it was hard to see — it was snowing and the windshield wiper on the driver’s side had broken. He says it’s a good thing he’s familiar with the road!

He’ll probably have to plow again today, but he’s bringing up new windshield wipers, so with any luck it will be easier.

I hope your weather is more pleasant!

Does he HAVE to go? Why?

    • Jean says:

He could wait down here until it warms up again and the snow melts, but on the whole he loves it. He goes off happy in the morning. The car that sometimes doesn’t start is a nuisance, but presumably they’ll figure it out sooner or later. He thought the broken windshield wiper was funny.

I am glad you guys are getting precipitation, although I am sorry it is fraught with such nuisances. I hope this helps the trees come June.

    • Jean says:

Yes, we need the snow. When he ordered the shades a couple of months ago they were all hoping they would get snowed out and have to delay installing them. They got their wish. 🙂 They were planning to install them this past Thursday, but now we’ll probably wait for the worst of winter to be over.

I hope yours is over soon, too!

we have lots of snow too.
the marine and i got out in it yesterday. magical! but then i wasn’t doing the driving.
today i’m content to just stay put and enjoy my warm little house.
going to pop some popcorn tonight. yum!
andy … going up there alone to plow? in that weather … or conditions …
not really a good idea i would think.
but then … whatcha gonna do? it is what it is! LOL. xoxo

He’s been doing things like this for years. Is it risky? Sure. But he loves it so much it would be dumb to deprive himself. I did have him to talk to Greg, the solar guy, about being our backup plan if Andy doesn’t come home some night. Greg is more than happy to drive me up there to look for Andy. He didn’t want to be paid, but we said no way. Just the peace of mind knowing he’s there is invaluable to us.

oh good! i can relax now too! 😀

  5. We had a pretty good and very sunny day today — But winter comes back tomorrow. It can be pretty stubborn leaving this time of year, so we’ll see what March brings! Hope you have a good weekend, stay warm!! 🙂

  6. Mike says:

32° and snow on the ground. Supposed to get into the 40s with rain today and tomorrow. Tuesday is supposed to be in the 60s, with rain. Then the temperatures drop with a possibility of snow. We actually had early daffodils two weeks ago when none that we could see on our drives around the area having any! The daffodils blossoms are still there, preserved by the cold that showed up on the 15th and has yet to let up.

Meteorological spring is March, April and May while astronomical spring arrives at the vernal equinox, which this year is March 20 at 8:45 PM.

I’m betting on a cold spring for us no matter which one we use.

    • Jean says:

I have no idea what our spring will be like. We had quite a few spring-like days before winter returned. Today was supposed to be more snow, instead it was around freezing but no precipitation. It’s supposed to be cold tonight, then gradually warming up again. Andy couldn’t work on digging the truck out today because the ground was frozen.

      Weather certainly is interesting!

no snow here…so never had to think about “plowing” 🙂 sorry couldn’t resist it…

you are never going to stop Andy, doing whatever he loves doing but it’s good know that there is a back up if need be. Just as no one is going to stop most people from doing what they love, but sometimes life intervenes either forever, or a short time out…

    • Jean says:

I’m completely supportive of Andy — I’m just glad he still gets to do what he loves. We don’t take anything for granted, especially at our ages.
