Pigeons on Subways

Apparently some pigeons in Stockholm use the subway to travel one stop to an area where there are numerous restaurants and plenty of food to be found.

They stand calmly at the platform and wait for the subway train to arrive. When it does they get on, travel one stop, jump off and then head for their favorite haunts.

They behave well while on board and don’t seem to be making much of a mess. They also choose to travel later in the day, cleverly avoiding rush hour.

And it’s not only in Sweden that pigeons use the subway. Here’ a video of one in New York.

Yay, pigeons!

    and also adorable.
i like the way he simply ‘walks’ across the door threshold instead of flying!

I have a semi-flock hanging around here, I will gladly mail them on if anyone wants them – they fly between a couple of houses and are really annoying especially in the evening – they have a tendency to misjudge the roofline at times…whack!

Of things are not helped when that doozy neighbour of mine throws bread on his back lawn…
