Lawyers

Rummuser has a great story about the difference between pastors and lawyers. The story concludes,

It is not necessary to lie, one only has to choose the right words. Lawyers don’t lie… they are creative… They are smooth.

It reminds me of the Robert Brault quote:

To err is human, to forgive does not get you the settlement that we at Susskind, Marberry and Callahan feel you’re entitled to.

Laws and lawyers aren’t always friendly.

I have two nephews who are barristers in the UK and a mentee who is a social activist lawyer in India. Imagine what has happened to me since that post!

i have to admit. i like lawyer jokes and stories.
there are so many laws now… it makes me think of what lao tzu said…
too many laws only makes more law breakers! … or something to that effect.

Yes, as Mike once said, there are so many laws it’s hard not to violate one without even being aware of it. That’s bad!

My brother is a lawyer so I stay away from those jokes now 😉

Thanks for the good laugh. Just simple ordinary laughter, since I’m not right now using the services of any lawyers — and since I’m also on pretty much of a news strike. I’d rather chat about fawn lilies with friends, than read the sameoldsameold stuff in the New York Times.

That does sound like a much better use of your time.

I’ve been spending a lot of time watching episodes of Frasier. It does seem to be helping my sense of humor.

and not only so many laws that you could trip over one and fall down on another BUT every kind of food/liquid you imbibe will give a number of differing problems – every week, something that was “bad is good” and something that was “healthy is now bad”!

    • Jean says:

I agree about the “rules” about what’s good and bad for you always changing. Apparently articles like that do get people’s attention.

Sadly I don’t think that laws protect the innocent so much as the guilty.
So I’m not a big fan of lawyers and such.
I think the whole process is totally messed up.
