What a contrast from the more usual Pitbulls are Dangerous! stories. I wonder how easy it is to train them, and how long-lasting the effects are. What would happen if that pitbull didn’t get dinner today and then was put in with the chicks? How many days would it take?
Anyhow, it was fun smiling along with the chicks on its back.

I doubt that he was trained to do that. It’s more likely he was allowed to go into the pen because he wasn’t interested in attacking the birds.

I’ve read a lot of stories about what great family pets Pitbulls make. I tend to skip the horror stories. The vicious ones may partly be that way because of training, doing it to please their owners — they are incredibly loyal. I’ve interacted with several over at the shelter and they have been sweet.

    that was wonderful!
the tiny baby must have been weaker than the others. it didn’t seem as active. is there such a thing as the runt in birdland?
he was very gentle with it. with all of them really! such a good boy.

You know that I take care of dogs every day and that includes Pitbulls.
But the most aggressive dog I ever dealt with was a Dachshund.
I’ve had some really frightened German Shepherds and a scared dog is worse than a mean dog.
I also had a little Lhasa Apso come in that would charge out and try to bite when I opened the run door.
But of course, a Pitbull bite would do so much more damage than a little dog.
It’s jaws are so powerful that it could kill if that was it’s intent.
    But that’s not their nature.
The dog in the video wasn’t trained to be good.
Instead horrible people have to “train” them to fight and be aggressive.
I don’t really like the comment about how long would it take for the dog to go after the chicks for dinner. Who would wonder about that?
I’d say a human being would probably eat the chicks first.
But you know me, I’m hyper-sensitive about dogs and how they are treated and judged.

I’m with you — humans would probably eat the chicks first. I also agree with you about pitbulls. They’re extremely loyal and will fight to please their humans, but they’re also extremely strong so can do a lot of damage if they attack someone. Banning the breed is the wrong way to go. Banning bad owners is a better idea!
