New Loveseat

We’re about to order a loveseat for Andy — the style should be something like the picture below. Our local store says they can deliver it, either when it comes (the best guess is sometime in November) or next spring, if there’s too much snow this year.

The color will be different from the photo, of course. We borrowed a number of swatches from the store and will go up this afternoon to see how they look in the living room. We’ll make our best guess and keep our fingers crossed.

The adventure continues.

Something new that I have learnt. My idea of love seats has been http://www.lindseyteak.com/LT_HTML/Enlargements_Retail/LoveSeat.jpg

That was my first thought when I heard the term. Apparently the meaning has been expanded: “a small sofa for two people, in the past designed in an S-shape so that the couple could face each other.”

Wikipedia says, “A loveseat is a couch or sofa designed for seating two persons, and it typically has two cushion seats. A proper loveseat has the two parties facing parallel to each other. ” It also says. “These early designs were not intended to aid courtship between two people, but rather to provide a seat that would accommodate the large dresses worn by the ladies of the period.” Who would have guessed? I certainly don’t need extra room for the large dresses I never wear. 🙂

    Rummy is funny.

    I really like your loveseat!
    Is it leather or faux.
My sofa is slowly becoming destroyed and I love that sofa above all others that I’ve had and I’ve had so many.
It’s Mid-Century and made of Naugahyde.
It’s held up very well, considering that a 150 lb dog sleeps on it a lot and stands and turns circles on it while a crazy terrier mix and a border collie likes to jumps on it and bark out of the window at passer-byes.
So, I will wait until they completely destroy it and then I think I will get something similar to what you are getting.
    Yep, really like it!

      Cindi,
It’s leather. We could also have chosen fabric, but Kaitlin pointed out with all the dust up there we would be better off with leather. Kaitlin and Torben had a beautiful leather couch until it got destroyed by the pets, as I recall.

there are 2 kinds of love seat here – that I can think of…one which is a kind of porch swing with a frilly kind of cover over top of it – the other a seat where one person is facing the other way and a kind of bend in the middle so that you can “kiss” better

the kind of seat you show is just a 2-seater, either on it’s own or part of a whole lounge suite.

I have a 2 seater and a 3 seater set of couches in my living room…my pride and joy because the purchase was made when I desperately needed to replace one 3 seater. And I got the 2 for less than if I had bought one… they are 2nd hand but in good condition…
