The trick is to simplify our lives (click on picture for higher resolution):

Never put off until tomorrow what you don’t have to do at all.

How I wish I could procrastinate like that! Unfortunately, unlike Calvin, I don’t need a Hobbs so brainwash me into doing all the chores before time!

    LOL!
    love these monk! especially calvin’s.
i once lived in a little town that left their christmas lights up year round.
they only turned them on during the ‘season’ of course. 🙂

Funny, both of them. And considering how – the older I get – time flies past at the speed of Concorde I too may leave Christmas decorations hanging all year in future. Though, by some stinking law of physics, that would make them dusty and then they’d need to be polished. Or maybe one could just go to pot completely.

By nature I am not a procrastinator. All I know is that when I catch myself putting things off I know all is not well in Ursula land. In fact that’s an understatement. It’s red alert. Hate it.

However, yes, sometimes not immediately attending to something makes the whole thing go away altogether.

Which brings me to one of my favourite pastimes … making to do lists. I am in awe of my to do lists. They are vaguely comforting and remind me that I exist.

I didn’t even decorate for Christmas last year. I don’t have do lists, I make possibility lists. Slightly less structured for us P’s in Myers-Briggs terms. (Although as I recall, you’re an SP.) If something is important enough it gets done. I like having some things I do regularly, but also having a lot of free time so I can choose.

Of course there’s a big difference between procrastination and taking the time to make sure you’re totally clear about what you’re going to and how you’re going to do it….

The kitchen is my domain in the mornings for tea and breakfast besides setting the yogurt and boiling the milk that comes every morning. My exercise routine, emails, blog responses and shopping are all chores that I have to handle.

I think the first cartoon is more me.
At least lately. Doing a bunch of chores and never getting to the fun.
I need to work on that. Flip flop it so I do the fun first, but I’m even procrastinating on doing that.
    :p
