I have a lot of doubts about Trump even getting the Republican nomination let alone being elected president. But he certainly has struck a chord with a lot of unhappy Americans and has been getting a lot of free publicity. Apparently by early December he had spent only about $200,000 on advertising compared to the $28.9 million spent on Jeb Bush’s campaign. (Bush is still stuck in the single digit poll numbers.)

Trump even got publicity in Southern California when a hacker changed a freeway sign to read,

Inland Empire supports Donald Trump.
Merry Xmas.
Vote Donald Trump.

Our political campaigns are way too long, but this one does have its entertaining moments.

Don’t be too hard on him. He may just pull it off too! It will be interesting if he does get the nomination. Who will he choose as his running mate? If his nomination comes before that of the Democrats, who stands the best chance of getting the latter’s nomination? Many interesting outcomes are possible.

The Democrats would love it if he gets the nomination. Some Republicans aren’t only worried that Trump will get it and hand the election to Hillary, they are also worried what about would happen if he becomes president.

I’m bothered by all the hate he’s stirring up, but I do think it’s funny that for a change the big donors aren’t controlling things.

way too long is an understatement!
    he’s an egocentric windbag…
talks off the cuff… and doesn’t even worry that a lot of what he touts isn’t even FACT!
was a rich kid… got his start straight from his wealthy father…
has run his company into bankruptcy at least once… or was it twice?
    and yet…
like you say… he hasn’t worried about money. he has all he needs and more.
and as he says… he already has a fortune so he ” can’t be bought!”
the others… with the possible exception of bernie sanders who claims it’s all small donations from taxpayers… have ALL been literally bought and paid for by huge corporations and super packs. every one of them!
just like the two senators from my state who were bought and paid for by BIG OIL . . .
they have absolutely no desire to help the climate with alternative solutions.
they OWE too much to their benefactors. rather like the godfather.
    guess where their loyalty lies!
so all of this mess is anybody’s guess i would say.

  3. Just wanted to say Happy New Year to you, Jean! And thank you for the wonderful comments on my blog. I’m convinced 2016 will be better than ever!

The other day I was thinking that if my sister did indeed move to Vermont, that Canada isn’t much further!
They have free healthcare and a cute prime minister who seems compassionate.
But I think I would lose my social security if I did that.
    So never mind.
    😉

I think you could collect your Social Security, but couldn’t add to it. I don’t think we’re going to get a cute, compassionate president here. 😉
