Sunny and Educational Day

Kaitlin and Torben still haven’t gotten their warm coats and boots, but apparently their bag arrived in Albuquerque and is on its way to their motel.

We had a good day anyway. Andy showed them how to turn on the solar heating system:

And he described how the system works:

After lunch he explained the electronics that have been installed so far for the photovoltaic batteries:

Then we went down to the battery house to see how the electronics look installed:

All in all a fun and educational day.

Grand! They must find out from the airline as to how to prevent this from happening again. It has after all happened twice in a row!

    • Jean says:

They think they’ll just leave some warm coats and boots up on the land and just forget letting the airline handle it. They thought of just sending the warm stuff ahead of time, but didn’t get to it on time. Airlines are not interested in making things easy for their passengers.

Very interesting for me too. I wish that I could be there to see how much work has gone into and mostly all by Andy. Remarkable.

Very cool and looks plenty complicated. The plumbing, I could do. Basic electrical wiring, no problem. The electronics, not a chance.

  5. You wrote in another post about your solar heating system. Good for you and Andy! He is a remarkable man!

    • Jean says:

Yes, electronics is one of his talents. I was actually introduced to him when he was building a circuit for his Ph.D. experiment. That was a long time ago!

It all looks horrendously complicated! I’m impressed Andy can understand it all. I can just about understand the inside of an electric plug….

i might as well live in a cave!
i know zilch. and even with a patient explanation by andy…
i would still be in the dark and in marvelous awe!
i just love the sun streaming in… the beautiful floors…
and the windows… and the VIEW! WOW!
so glad the errant luggage finally made it! good grief. 🙂
    xo

We were so happy the sun came out for a day or so at least. It was overcast today. We still enjoyed it, but the views weren’t spectacular.

    LOL!
I’m in the dark with Tammy!
    and I’m in awe too.
My mind just doesn’t work like that.

Glad the luggage finally got there!
    🙂

I have a lot of respect for a man like Andy…they don’t come in generic brands either – I don’t understand terribly much of anything electronic and if it breaks I have to say “help”…. or if it is something like synchronized clocks in the house, as I discovered other day I have to either adjust the gadget or remember the kitchen stove clock is 4mins fast – good if you think you’ve going to miss the bus!

I can alter the stove clock, but will wait for then power outage when I struggle to a/find the instructions and then press the buttons in the right order….
