Home Safely

Kaitlin phoned to say they’re home. We weren’t worried, but we were waiting and happy to get the call.

The weather was yucky on the drive down — fog and rain, and their flight was delayed for a couple of hours. Apparently not because of the weather, but because some paperwork problems in Chicago kept the plane from getting to Albuquerque on time. We’ve never heard of that before, and it’s unlikely we will ever hear more details.

Anyway, it was a great visit and everyone is home safely. Tomorrow Andy will see how bad the snow is up in the mountains. He’s pretty sure he will have to plow, the question is can he drive up to the truck or will he have to walk in part of the way? Needless to say, we will let you know.

He’s pretty sure he’ll have to put chains on. I’ll let you know how it goes. Life is one adventure after another up here.

Good that they are back home safely and that both of you too are safe in that inclement weather conditions. I hope that you stay that way.

i always breathe a sigh of relief when people are back home from traveling.
    especially flying these days.
the marine made it back from florida on the 5th. but was driving.
that makes 3 trips… each over 2000 miles … in less than 8 weeks.
    good grief.
even he said he’s ready to stay home for awhile!

  4. It is decades since I had to put chains on my car. They were the low tech kind, which I would spread out in front of the tire, and through some devious means, attach to it. Can’t remember how it worked, but I do remember crawling around in deep snow in my suit and good coat, trying to get the %?*! things on! On some parts of my commute, chains were “mandatory”.

The plane was delayed because of paperwork problems? Never heard that one before.

There’s a long tradition in both our families of letting people know we “got home safely”. Completely pointless as I can’t remember a single time when we didn’t get home safely. And if anything did happen to us, then of course the emergency services would inform our families anyway.

I think it’s a nice tradition. I wasn’t worried about Kaitlin and Torben’s safety, but I was glad the they didn’t get home too late. They had to go to work today.

all safe so that’s great – as for the plowing of snow and
    Andy that is something else…
