New Plans

Andy came home with good news last night. A crew from the county came up with two big road graders and pushed the snow off the sides of the first four miles of the road Andy has been plowing. The fellow in charge said the county was now taking responsibility for maintaining that part of the road. It is low on their priority list, but it means Andy should only have to plow that part minimally after a snow, just enough to keep the access open until the crew gets to it.

It sounds as if we were lucky that Orlando couldn’t rent the bobcat and long blade they had wanted this weekend. He and Andy will now wait to see if we get enough snow to cause a problem with the remaining two miles. With luck we won’t — fingers crossed, as usual.

The other news is I’ve upgraded my internet plan. Our old plan guaranteed the internet cost for life, but for a slow speed. The new one is guaranteed for only three years, but it’s up to 8 times faster and the price seems to be right. Fingers crossed here that the transition goes smoothly. I never take that for granted!

Let’s hope the county doesn’t change its mind. Only time will tell.

I will let you know about the internet transition, but it’s hopeful. The gal I talked to was very good. In the past it was hard to get specifics about a new plan, but this representative directed me to the right part of their online site so I could see it in writing. Before there were just promises, and once the old plan was gone there was no going back.

Oh! so happy to read the news about the road!

Good luck with the Internet change.
When I changed speeds they sent me a new modem and came in and did some wiring…and it was a nightmare.
I thought it was I, that messed up something and not understanding when it didn’t work but they had a guy come out on a Sunday to fix it and it was indeed their malfunction.
It works well enough now and after that, I doubt if I’ll ever change it again!
    LOL!
Much luck to you on the Internet, but once you get it going, you will love it!

I may be be offline for a bit. I do need a new modem which is supposed to come Monday afternoon. I have set them up before, with phone support, so I’m not expecting a problem there.

They will upgrade my service that evening, she says, but the new speed won’t work until someone comes out and changes some switches. That’s where I expect the problem.

Apparently the guy who does the house calls is sometimes busy. A neighbor of mine had trouble with his internet one Saturday and the fellow who fixed it doesn’t work on weekends. He told my neighbor he was lucky that he got there on Monday, sometimes there’s a longer wait.

I gave the neighbor the password to my network so he could work while waiting. If he’s home and I’m offline too long I may ask him if I can have access to his network. We’ll see how it goes. Needless to say, I will let you know!
