Apparently fear and gloom do sell. Surprisingly, a lot of evangelical Christians are attracted to Donald Trump. Who would have guessed?

In dozens of interviews with evangelical voters in 16 states, from every region of the country outside the Northeast, those supporting Mr. Trump sounded a familiar refrain: that his heart was in the right place, that his intentions for the country were pure, that he alone was capable of delivering to a troubled country salvation in the here and now.

“He is the only one who can pull us back from the abyss,” said John Juvenal, 67, a lifelong Republican and retired police officer from Oklahoma City.
—New York Times, Evangelicals See Donald Trump as Man of Conviction, if Not Faith

That doesn’t necessarily mean he will win the nomination, but it does mean he has had a powerful impact on American politics.

    OMG
    yet another embarrassment for okc.
i figured the evangelicals would want to elect cruz.

i honestly may write in a candidate this year! it’s pretty hopeless.

cruz was just heard in a news clip saying that fracking is a good thing!

and oklahoma is riddled with fracking and is having more earthquakes than any place in WORLD than any other place. and they’re finally grudgingly admitting that fracking and the underground water they use is a major cause.
we didn’t have it until they started that. and it’s gone on for years.
    and this is the result:

    6 quakes today
    46 past 7 days
    226 past month
    2,200 past year

we’re actually getting used to them. when they’re 4.8 you are awoken by them.
it’s odd that the politicians don’t want to admit it.
this site is very interesting. and not funded by big money of any kind.

i know there are pros and cons still about it. but living with the evidence is pretty self evident! many of them are 4.8 and 4.2

bernie sanders at least makes some sense when he talks. and nobody has BOUGHT him. yet.
    it’s such a mess!
and both of our own state senators got their offices paid for by BIG OIL MONEY! guess how they always vote! 🙂

Yes, I’ve read about the earthquakes, at least its an improvement if they’re starting to acknowledge the source. One thing about Trump, he’s sticking it in the eye of the big donors who are used to running things. And, no, I’m not saying he would be a good president. 🙂

I’m truly mystified by Trump’s huge popularity. Everything he says seems to me like pure idiocy. There must be an incredible number of religious and political hard-liners out there whose views chime perfectly with his.

I hope Bernie Sanders can stop Trump in his tracks, but I’m not holding my breath.

Apparently some people are attracted to Trump’s confidence. They think things are a mess and only a strong leader can set things right. A big part of Trump’s appeal is he isn’t beholden to big donors.

Did you see Sarah Palin hootin’ and hollerin’
I hate when they call her a pitbull with lipstick.
    What an insult to pitbulls.
Trump looked like he was trying not to grimace.
You could just see it in his face that he thinks she’s a joke too.
But he’s just so happy to stick it to Cruz.
I think the whole thing is just one huge ego trip for The Donald.
I don’t know who I want to win… I guess Bernie if I must choose.
I wish it could be Biden.
Yep, once again I’ll probably not actually vote FOR someone but rather against someone.

not having to follow it – although snippets of it all turn up here – in various guises, none of which make any sense, as we don’t change our gov’t in that way at all… of course, that is probably a lot to do with the fact we don’t have states, or the population… i try not to think it about it too hard, because what we believe we need, we don’t get what we want – then we keeping hearing about all the negatives – the winners have done!

  6. I caught Sarah Palin on the news last night. Couldn’t believe that nightmare in a skirt was back in the mainstream! Wish I could say she has no support, has lost her confidence, people can see through to her lack of intelligence, but no—she is as vociferous and full of herself as ever. True to her history, she may do Trump more harm than good. One can only wish!

    • Jean says:

Do you like Cruz better? Apparently the Republican race right now is between Trump and Cruz. What do you think of Clinton and Sanders?
