iPhone Security

There’s a big flap in the U.S. right now about the FBI trying to force Apple to unlock the iPhone of one of the San Bernardino terrorists. Apple is resisting because they don’t want to make the new phones vulnerable to hackers, but the FBI says that resistance is just a marketing ploy.

It will be interesting to see how it all turns out.

for some reason I feel it’s already a moot point.
I think they see whatever they want to see… whenever they want to see it.
the FBI and the CIA especially.
maybe I’ve seen to many movies though!
I think for judiciary reasons they let the media play it out.
    it will be interesting.

In fact, they can’t do that yet. The FBI has been upset about their lack of access to Apple products, and they are thrilled to have this test case to give them more power. Most people think the case will take a long time to resolve and it might go as far as the Supreme Court. Apparently the usual technique of trying a gazillion different passwords isn’t safe because the phone had the option to erase all data after ten unsuccessful tries. The FBI didn’t want to chance it. It’s fascinating stuff.

In fact, globally it is a very interesting development as other countries are also seeing how far this will go.
