That to me is the most fascinating thing about this election. Trump would probably be a disaster if he were elected president, but he certainly has shown that a lot of people are fed up with politics as usual.

Donald Trump is coming!
and he’s scaring the media and the politicians!
How this ends is anybody’s guess.

But watching is really fascinating.

Our local progressive group sends out gocomics every day; they’re a regular part of my morning schedule now, such fun. Our friends are all struggling trying to decide between Hillary and Bernie, and expressing fright and disgust about the Republican candidates. As we all say: not one of those Republicans is of presidential caliber, and all are likely to do serious harm. Trump at least would entertain us as he extracted money from us for the .01%. And since he feels no need to be accurate or consistent, or even to be particularly interested in policy issues, the question becomes: in a Trump administration, who would actually be running the country? Who would he delight in hiring and firing, and why?

I find it hard to believe that Trump will become president, but this election is a lot more interesting than most!

Do you follow the Dry Bones Blog? The cartoonist is a right-wing Israeli, so I disagree with him a lot, but it is interesting to see his viewpoint.

Politics and politicians will not change. Every now and then, some new phenomenon would arrive on the scene like our Narendra Modi and after a while he too will become another politician.

    • Jean says:

Peggy Noonan talked about this about some Republican reformers in Congress years ago. She said they came with high ideals, but then they got their “butts in the butter” and were corrupted too. That sums it up brilliantly.

  3. Linda P. says:

Cape Breton has a new campaign titled “If Trump Wins,” meant to entice U.S. citizens to Cape Breton. They say they’re getting a surprising number of serious inquiries. I wonder if a lot of those would-be Canadians will run into the same problem.

    • Jean says:

I looked up Cape Breton immigration, and apparently the population is declining and they need “to bring more families into our communities — people to create and fill jobs, shop and keep stores open, and children to fill our schools.” We retirees might shop and help keep stores open, but I’m guessing they want more than that. Sigh!

  4. That cartoon is too close to the truth for comfort! That’s why people like Trump can weasel his way in.

  5. Cathy in NZ says:

last elections here [different to yours of course] everyone was sick of the PM and tried all kinds of ways…but the opposition main party had a leadership problem which meant that the “sick of the PM” has returned. I don’t know what will happen next time around but the “flag saga” is about to fly in our faces again!

it truly is like watching a side show now!
if it weren’t for the fact that the ‘winner take all’ on the midway will have access to the nuclear code… I might could relax and enjoy the humour in it all!
but the cartoons you’re sharing are great!
