Do they really think things will be better in four years? The latest issue of The Economist is doubtful.

…America as a whole is seething with discontent. It may dodge putting a populist, and ideological extremist or a socialist in the White House in 2017. But, if voters’ anger remains unabated, it will not do so for much longer. Mrs Clinton needs a bold plan to counter this popular frustration. Alas, judging by her economic policies so far, she in more inclined to tinker.

The article ends with saying the mess the Republican party has gotten itself into gives Mrs Clinton a chance to reshape the nation if only her ideas are big enough to seize that chance. The author ignores the fact that a lot of people don’t trust her because they think she’s a crook.

Anyway, I’ll skip Rat’s solution and just watch what happens. Human nature isn’t always pretty, but it can be interesting.

as you aptly have about your post “life as a shared adventure” which seems to be curse/cure of any relatively normal human being in any country of the world where red-tape/similar is used with gay (not the gender/gay) abandon…to patch, to repair, to bind and then sometimes tie up with a twist’em and put out in the garbage…
repeatedly used for whatever political time frame one has to live with…

Yes, life is seldom the way people would want it to be. On the whole our generation has been extremely fortunate, but I’m afraid things are going to get a lot rockier.

We in India have our own troubles without my having to contribute to what you have said! What however is striking is that it would appear as though the Economist has decided that Clinton will be the next President.

    love the cartoon!
have you seen that tiny little ad on tv. I don’t know who has put it out there.
it’s only on for at most 2 or 3 seconds.
it’s someone towing their house on a trailer driven by a truck I guess.
it says “if you’re moving to canada in november…”
and that’s all I manage to see.
I thought about googling it to see its origin.
it’s obvious the thought behind it though…
disgruntled americans leaving the country? !!!

    • Jean says:

I hadn’t seen the ad, but I’m assuming this is it.

    • tammy j says:

that’s the house. but i’ve seen two ads on it with different ones.
i also looked it up and found this spotify on google.
on tv it never shows the complete clip like on you tube though.
very odd. maybe they could only afford two seconds and they knew people would look them up! LOL! very cunning.

    • Jean says:

It certainy got me to look it up. I agree, very clever!

I doubt if much will change in the next four years. As Barack Obama soon found out, the President is pretty powerless if he can’t get the support of Senate and Congress, and he himself was blocked time after time. The next President will very likely run up against the same obstacle.

Will there for instance be any tightening up of gun controls and the constant carnage of gun accidents and killing sprees? Very unlikely.

    • Jean says:

There are a lot more issues than gun control, which isn’t likely to improve. It partly depends on what happens in the Congressional races.

    The next four years….
I’ve been trying to be positive and look on the bright side of things
but when it comes to politics, I really struggle.
    🙁
