Have you ever known anyone like Mike, the boy in blue? If someone gave him money do you think it would ever be enough?

There are plenty of fellows like Mike here and no, they would never be satisfied with whatever they get.

I hate to say it but I know plenty of people like that.
Even though this will sound ageist, most are younger than 30.

money is apparently the root of all evil – but of course, we need to have some of the things we need and of course want… I see young people as wanting the latest, assuming parents have a never ending supply – “they’ve got job” – never realising the long hot shower and the extra food they grabbed from the fridge, the nice clean and pressed school shirt – comes with an invisible cost to them, but not their parents.

and then there are the parents, who can ill afford to provide presents, Xmas spring to mind… here in NZ every time – there is this call provide extras, toys for the kids, extra food parcels – they show queues at the foodbanks, here stories how the drove from long ways to collect enough…

later we hear the food banks have run dry, and that they need more food because these same people forgot to budget and they can’t pay the electric or whatever…

I have a non-friend who is on a limited budget and the other day I discovered he took up smoking again – he rolls his own but each costs $1 and he get through 9 a day! Instead of going to a doctor that you enroll and get your consults for say $17-20, he goes to one – 1/4 petrol tank away/$50. Then he will get his power/phone cut off because he hasn’t got the $$!

And then he feels hard done by…his litany of woes, is sadly probably happening all over the place. BTW the guy is in his 50s!

I know it is hard to not keep up with the Joneses but if you look at where, you can save, you win – easily. I still do “cream buns” and stuff, when I want, but I factor that in…

    ranting, sorry 🙂
