Sounds like good thinking to me. You won’t find Sammy arguing.

Sammy takes cartoons to next level – reveals it’s all quite possible!

Flower beds were of no interest to our cats – other than, naturally and what did I expect, to use them as toileting facilities when the soil was freshly toiled. I tell you, Jean, sometimes it’s hard to hold onto that loving feeling.

Sammy reminds me of Bouncer. Bouncer was the most useless cat ever. The youngest of a litter of three, he was born in a caul. Which denotes luck. His luck being that we kept him off the litter whilst his two sisters were dispatched (together) to another home. He was never fat, but he sure was huge. All eight kilograms of him. Small panther. Beautiful face. Amazing eyes. And he was affectionate. In a totally different way to his mother, Fleury. Fleury was intelligent, a talker, not a lap cat; Bouncer was soppy burying you under his weight, purring at decibels. Miss both of them in their own ways.

Back to Sammy. So Bouncer would do exactly do what Sammy does in the photo. Lie in semishade (mainly sun) underneath the bushes. For hours, Till a passing butterfly caught his attention. And then, I think he must have been about eight years old, he fell of the flesh, developed strange knobbly things on his skin (you could them when stroking him). Took him to the vet. Skin cancer. You could have blown me down with a feather. It had never occurred to me that a cat with a mega thick coat of fur could catch skin cancer. Incurable. Had him put down that afternoon in my arms. Yes, good old Bounce. How do you apply sun cream, factor 35 to a cat or a dog?

Ignore the above. May Sammy enjoy the sun as long as she can and does.

Sammy is there because of the shade. He has trouble with heat because of his thick fur.

I remember my folks getting us a sand pile to play in when we were kids. I was excited about it, until I discovered all our feral cats thought it was a great litter box. It was great that first day.

  3. I’m an avid gardener, and love my flower borders. But I’d forgive Sammy—he is just too cute!
