Orphans of the Storm

Apparently Sammy relied on Montana more than Kaitlin and Torben realized. He seems to be deaf and had been looking at Montana to see when it was time to eat, take walks, etc. So now he seems confused most of the time. Hopefully he will adjust to the new routine in the next few weeks, but just in case K and T are starting to look at the possibility of a new companion for him. He will be the ultimate decider, of course.

Because of his past preferences they’re starting to look at young, female dogs. And they’re looking at Orphans of the Storm, where they got Montana. If you’re interested click here and use the following settings:

Any Breed/Mix
Any Size
Young Adult

Sammy also mentions it in his latest post.

We will let you know how it turns out. 🙂

  1. We have an amazing dog rescue organization here in Victoria. I love their name, “Broken Promises Dog Rescue”. It says so much, since many dogs end up there after divorces in the family, and other life changes that make it impossible to allow them to keep their dog.

    • Jean says:

We have Friends of the Shelter that walk the dogs, pay for medical treatment, sometimes foster dogs, advertise to get the dogs adopted, etc. The shelter is run by the county and isn’t officially no-kill, but the organization finds homes for almost everyone. The county only euthanizes if a dog is clearly suffering and can’t be helped, or in rare cases where the dog is just too aggressive and can’t be trained out of it.

That is very compassionate thinking. I hope that they get a good companion for Sammy.

  3. Cathy in NZ says:

yep, ditto on a good companion for Sammy – and interesting that they had obviously worked as a team…

I’m so happy to read that they might be getting a rescue dog!
I went to the site (of course) and a few really jumped out at me.
Of course that can all change when you meet them in person.
I saw several that might be someone Sammy would like but the moment I saw Daisy, I was thinking that might be a match!
It will be exciting to see if Sammy picks anyone!

If I was looking for myself
which I am NOT, I would be tempted by Bobo because something about him reminds me of my Jimmy, but I could only handle one Jimmy!
Nope, without a doubt I’d want Lily and whoever her sidekick Chihuahua that’s on the pillow with her is.
LOL! two is better than one! right!?!?
And….sigh. I would HAVE to take 14 yr old Lucy….
I wish I hadn’t seen her because now I’ll be thinking about her.
    :/
ANYWAY! I hope the best for everyone!
    XOXOXOXOXO

I was taken by Daisy’s soulful look. Her eyes remind me of Banshee, Sammy’s sister, who died over six years ago.

I hope Lucy gets adopted, and I can understand why you’re taken with Lily. I think Kaitlin and Torben think Drizzle might be a good match. It will be fun to see what Sammy chooses. 🙂

    • Jean says:

Just got back from Montana/Sammy’s blog. Apparently Drizzle is being treated for heart worm so isn’t available until she’s cured. Poor baby! They’re looking at Collette and Mazie. Orphans doesn’t have pictures of them up yet, but Torben took a great video.

  5. Cindi says:

    Love the video!
Both dogs are very cool! I think, for myself, I’d learn towards Mazie.
I went back to the site and I like Vanilla too!
Omg, I wish them luck! How hard it would be to choose.
    Hopefully Sammy will just know!
    😉
