An Anomaly

Much of the country is distressed by the presidential candidates offered by the two conventional political parties. And for good reason. Neither Donald Trump nor Hillary Clinton meets the fundamental moral and professional standards we have every right to expect of an American president. Fortunately, there is a reasonable β€” and formidable β€” alternative.

Gary Johnson is a former, two-term governor of New Mexico and a man who built from scratch a construction company that eventually employed more than 1,000 people before he sold it in 1999. He possesses substantial executive experience in both the private and the public sectors.

More important, he’s a man of good integrity, apparently normal ego and sound ideas. Sadly, in the 2016 presidential contest, those essential qualities make him an anomaly β€” though they are the foundations for solid leadership and trustworthy character.

It’s nice to know such people do exist, even though they don’t have a chance of winning. As I’ve mentioned before, Johnson has my vote.

My guess is “we ain’t seen nothing yet”! Tomorrow’s post is going to be about the presidential debates and why Johnson and Stein are excluded.

because of MMP (I think those are the letters) – outsider parties can get a shot of being part of the main governing body. In fact often they are needed as the margin is too low…but they don’t get to be the PM!

I keep thinking about doing a write in vote but I fear Trump more than Clinton so I hate to think my write in vote could help him win.

    • Jean says:

I’m not worried about that because New Mexico will probably vote for Clinton. And my one vote has yet to swing an election. πŸ™‚
