Lanky Legs

Sassy, headstrong, and smart. What a combo!
Lanky Legs’ Tempi’s mom

Torben and Kaitlin have decided Lanky Legs/Tempi is not full grown. She’s gained about six pounds since they got her six weeks ago, and she has the characteristics of a 10-month-old pup. “Long limbs, slender, maybe a bit awkward and ungainly.” And breaking the rules to test the limits.

She’s also adorable and they love her dearly. So they’ve hired a trainer to teach them how to guide her. (Think squirt bottles.)

As usual, we don’t have to be perfect to be lovable.

“Awkward and ungainly” – that makes me smile. Maybe, like some humans, that is just what she is and always will be.

“And breaking the rules” – well, in Tempi’s defense, I’d say that in order to break rules you first have to understand that there are any and, if so, what they are.

Thanks for a heart warming start to my day.

Yes, she’s very smart. The last time they drove to Michigan she got into the far back of the car and started to chew on the floor mat. She knew that was a no-no, but she figured she was out of range so would be safe. She wasn’t, and it took a couple of squirts in the face to tell her that — one wasn’t enough to convince her, she wanted to be sure. Then she climbed back into her regular seat and behaved the rest of the trip. You can’t blame a gal for trying.

I too am still growing, in the middle. It is a constant battle not to.

They look like such good friends. I’m happy for them both, and for Kaitlin and Torben, too!
“squirt bottles”? Sounds kind of tricky, something that could turn into a game, not a guide.

    lovable she definitely is!
she has always looked like a puppy still to me.
    something in the facial expression!
and of course the clumsiness. they seem to have to grow into their feet! LOL

Yes, if my arms and legs suddenly changed length I would be even clumsier than I am right now. 🙂 Once things stop changing length it’s easier for the body to do things automatically.

    Oh! She’s adorable!
I’m so glad the squirt bottle training is helping.
    That’s a great idea!
I need to go over and do some blog reading and caught up on the details.
I’m so excited that I’m finally going to have a bit of time. 🙂
Yep, Lanky Legs is one lucky girl.
    xoxoxo
