You Know You’re Getting Old ….

You know you’re getting old when your husband notices the new expiration date of your credit cards and says,

2022! We could be dead by then!

Yes, we no longer make long-range plans. What about you?

    LOLOL!
    another good one.
    i’m with rummy.
    I never plan.
especially long range! and I never set goals.
might be a key to my happiness. I don’t know.
come to think of it I never made plans when I was young either.
we were always moving and never knew where til pretty much the last minute.
well… not the last MINUTE… but you know. 🙂
one thing… it does keep you flexible!

We no longer purchase anything that has a longer shelf life than we do.

My only long range plans are to move to the care center at the other end of our apartment building when the time comes to do that. And to fill out the DNR forms while I still have that choice.

That’s not a bad plan to have. We’re spending a mint on our long-term care insurance, but we hope we don’t ever have to use it. It’s supposed to cover in-home care too.

Rummuser doesn’t have to worry about that — he’s living with his family. We’re trying to make things as easy as possible for Kaitlin and Torben.

    Aarrggghhhh!
    DON’T say that!!!
Quick! Knock on wood, throw salt over your shoulder and spit on the ground!
Me and my mom need you around for a very long time!
(I commenting because Mom is busy making plans and trying to achieve a few goals.)

😀 Not to fear, we’re still happily engaged in life.

A long time ago, right after we retired, I took a class about motivation, making life plans. I decided I wanted to write, but for the process itself, not for the end product. No, no! That’s not what the class was about! So much for that class. 🙂

I have difficulty with this “getting older thing” and I probably am putting off a fair amount of it.

This mostly because I seem to have to prove to people almost weekly that I’m actually an old-age pensioner – we have this special “gold” coloured card that does help!

It wasn’t to start with but if you look carefully at my “in purse one” you see my mugshot on it – even more proof it’s actually mind and not a stolen one…

and then there are the people who mistake my trembly hands for very old age, like in “shouldn’t you be in care…” oops, had them all me life!

I never did make long-range plans. I plan for the next few months and that’s it. I’ve changed homes and jobs frequently, with no idea how long they’ll last. I guess the only long-range plan I’ll ever make is moving into a nursing home….
