People Are Going to Believe What They Want to Believe

Cartoonists and late night comedians are having a great time with the latest Trump fiascos, but this cartoon is incorrect:

Many of Trump supports agree with him that

This is the single greatest witch hunt of a politician in American history!

They believe

Enemies from within have launched a “deep-state” smear campaign, news organizations are acting with ulterior motives, and the worst attacks are yet to come.

Pushing back against the biggest threat so far to Donald Trump’s young presidency, his most fervent supporters are building alternative narratives to run alongside the “establishment” media account — from relatively benign diversions to more bizarre conspiracies.
The Right Builds an Alternative Narrative About the Crises Around Trump

Sigh, a lot of people are just going to believe what they want to believe.

you last line, is the best one – of course, we believe what we want – as long as no one else shouts over our knowledge/belief

I think that this gives a better picture about the POTUS than anything else that I have read recently. Lucky Pence!

Thanks for the link. I agree with his attitude of winning or losing rather than right or wrong, but we will have to see how it all turns out. I’m curious to see how his international trip goes.

he’s his own worst enemy and for the most part he has brought this all upon himself. it’s seriously gaining in momentum and will only get worse for him. and he’s finally feeling overwhelmed by it all judging from his latest witch hunt comment.
    the bully is being bullied!
only he doesn’t see himself as a bully of course. they never do.
at his age you would think the constantly high daily stress would be a danger for him given that he’s overweight and not exercising and getting so continually outraged. i would think he surely must have high blood pressure!
if he truly is unbalanced … it’s just all very sad.
he has the greatest need to be loved and admired. and that simple fact is MAJOR in his world. at any costs apparently. for him and for us.
he’s ill equipped for the job and doesn’t even realize he’s in over his head.
or then… maybe in his deepest quiet moments all alone… he does.

I feel sorry for him, except when he is bullying other people! A lot will depend on how many people stick by him, and whether his health will give out.

  4. It has been quite a show. There will be more, and we will listen to it even though we are all exhausted! Because it’s not over ’til it’s over!

    • Jean says:

I’m not exhausted, but I do enjoy the late night comedians. And I’m curious to see how his trip goes. Apparently the governments in other countries are trying to figure out how to adjust to his limited attention span. It will be interesting to see if anyone else can manipulate him the way the Russians did.

I get up every morning (early – just as Washington DC is going to bed and Trump has trumped himself once more whilst I indulged in lucid nightmares), turn on the computer and click on the news. With only one thought – and raising my heart beat in anticipation: “What fresh hell is awaiting us today?” Mind you, living in the UK, fresh hell awaits us throughout the day. I now know what a force fed goose feels like. Full. To the brim. Pass me the sick bucket.

Things could settle down for a bit, but I wouldn’t bet on it. He does have a talent for digging himself deeper.
