July 9, 2017 Sunday Hike

Andy, Beate and Tim didn’t take a walk Sunday because the weather forecast said there was a good chance of rain. But they did take a nice walk to South Mountain in the Valles Caldera preserve the Sunday before. Beate arranged for a 9 AM shuttle to take them the 2-3 miles to the trail head, then they walked the 8 miles round trip and phoned for the shuttle to pick them up. How cool was that!

Here are some pictures she took of the hike:

And here are a few that Andy took:

As you can see, there were a lot of trees in addition to the views. All in all it was a great success.

Spectacular. I would exchange my arm chair for the walks if not for my bust hip joints!

Yes, we have to do the best we can with what we have left. Fortunately, there are plenty of other fun things we can do.

  2. The shuttle was a good move! It allowed them to get deeper into the woods, and explore some interesting trails. Lots of great pictures, but the most appealing one for me is the very last one, with that inviting footpath that could lead anywhere!

    I love these.
    and everything looks so green!
we have a lot of brown now because of the drought.
some parts of our state are getting rain though. just not us!
are we being punished I wonder? 😀
some of those views are just fabulous.
but I agree that last picture is so beautiful and inviting!

We’re not getting an old-fashioned rainy season, but we are getting some precipitation. We love the green too!
