Bless Email and the Garmin

I received an email from Andy Sunday afternoon as he was leaving the land:

I will be late tonight-banged my head on a tree. Want to see if they can stop the bleeding. I imagine that plavix and vitamin E aren’t helping..

I didn’t worry, but mentally thought of my contingency plan if I needed to get him some help. About twenty minutes or so after he would usually been home I checked the Garmin map and saw that he was at the hospital, presumably in the ER and in good hands.

He arrived here about 6 PM with four staples in his scalp — it had been cloudy and he had taken off his pith helmet when the sun came out. Unfortunately there was a fallen tree on the road and while was watching his feet he banged his head on one of the sharp branches. When he got back to the house he tried to stop the bleeding with paper towels, but whenever he took them off the bleeding started again, so he decided to get some help on the way home.

He was fine yesterday, none the worse for the incident.

Omg! I’m so glad that Andy is ok!
It’s good that you were able to remain calm and collected.
I wish I was more like that.
Instead I would have been frantic.
I’m just so happy it all turned out fine.
    xoxoxo

Commitment and practice. I taught stress management/emotional aikido/dealing with difficult people for about ten years. I did it so I would practice what I preached. A lot of it is second nature to me now.

  2. He was fine, and that’s all that matters…I’m with Cindi about how you were able to be calm. Wonderful that you could track his progress through Garmin!

Glad Andy is OK. Removing staples doesn’t hurt like I thought they would.

My Dave sometimes wears a stocking cap when he’s doing something that could cause a head banging. It softens the blows.

Andy has a hard pith helmet he usually wears outside. He just took it off at the wrong time — he wanted to get a bit of sun for vitamin D.
