Taking Down the Christmas Tree

Kaitlin helped Andy take down the Christmas tree New Year’s Day:

Tempi wanted to help, but, thank goodness, she still can’t climb ladders.

give Tempi another few years and she’ll be an ace at that ladder…great though that Andy has a helper. Love the shots…the sky looks so blue.

there is no blue sky here today and even though it was only lightly raining at some point, I managed to get the empty recycle bin in (well not in it’s usual place, but off the driveway) – 10mins later it was pelting down – well actually slanting down…it’s still fairly dismal. And I’ve added another layer and socks!

I was expecting action yesterday on the driveway – some point this morning 2 men, Jake the contractor and a guy in a high viz jacket. I heard bits and pieces about the drains…which it seems may not be going ahead right away. the HV guy was saying “you only can upgrade the drains, but if you want to change the drains you will need a council permit…” to which Jake replied “oh we won’t bother with that…” I didn’t hear the reply but they were studying a piece of paper. They were around behind my unit kind of eyeing up where the drain goes…

sounds to me like some deep digging is going to happen…then away they went!

We know about that — typical for contractors, and for building codes. ๐Ÿ™

We could use some precipitation now that the kids have left — we essentially haven’t had any for 90 days now. That means more drought and forest fires.

I’m trying to talk Andy into getting a larger tree and putting it on the ground rather than on the roof. If it’s larger the lights can be brighter and they should be more visible even if they are lower. (If the lights are too bright and close together they merge into one white light.)

Great troopers both Kaitlin and Tempi are.

Our tree, inside, and all the other decorations came down yesterday and are back in storage for next year. All that’s left is the outside lights. Hopefully, it’ll be a tad warmer for that.

    Best wishes for 2018!

Looks like Tempi could have climbed up, given enough time, haha.

We’re hoping she doesn’t get the chance to try it. She does love climbing the stairs to the attic. They’re challenging but safer than a ladder. It still blows my mind how she taught herself to do it, but even though the steps are narrow, she could turn around to come down.

i’m with you. maybe time to give up that steep roof!
there are always alternative ways to share the light. ๐Ÿ˜€
and I think tempi just might figure that ladder out!
if she doesn’t it won’t be for lack of courage!!!

  6. Looks dangerous! Glad Kaitlin was there to help! If it were me, I’d be encouraging Andy to give this up next yearโ€”just say’in!
