New Playground

For years I’ve worked at my computer standing up. I had a folding table set up on a box and for the most part it worked just fine. Things got a bit crowded when I bought my graphics tablet, but it wasn’t bad enough for me to anything about it. Then I got several new software programs that are going to require hours and hours at the computer. My main concern was tearing myself away so I could get my exercise in. So I thought about the problem for a while and ended up with this:

My new desk with the jogging trampoline.

The desk has shelves as well as a relatively spacious working surface, and it’s high enough that I can stand and bounce on my jogging trampoline. It also works fine when I use my stair stepper, so I have two options for variety.

My stair stepper.

Being able to move my body as I learn new things makes makes both activities more fun. So my new desk is really my new playground. Do you have any playground in your life?

Thanks to Nick, Rummuser, Cathy, bikehikebabe and Dixie for commenting on last week’s post.

You never were a couch potato. 🙂

I’m not either. When I’m too tired to be on my feet, I lie down.

  2. Rummuser says:

Amazing way to work and play at the same time!

    My mind.

  3. Jean says:

    bikehikebabe,
Yes, I lie down too. Much more satisfying than sitting.

    Rummuser,
I agree. My brain is my favorite toy.

    brain with smiley face

    Robert,
It’s good hearing from you! I checked your blog a few weeks ago and it seemed your last post was in December 2010. How are you doing? How about an update? You look happy in your picture.

As you can tell from my posts I’m having a great time.

  6. Rummuser says:

Robert, I stopped doing some years ago!

  7. bikehikebabe says:

Hey there Robert old pal. Jimaney crickets, by jove, it’s been a long time. Haven’t seen your Reason For Smile blog in years. I see you are still smiling. We missed you. 🙂

  8. Jean says:

    Rummuser,
And now you’re being done to?

  9. Robert says:

Hahaha… yeah, the last update was 2010…
    I guess its a writer’s block ^^
good to see you all still gathering here in this blog.

Rummuser, you stopped blogging too? any new hobby?

Bike, I missed your english advice ^^ hehe

Jean, your new house is built already?

  10. bikehikebabe says:

No, Rummuser (or Ramana) still blogs all over the place; “stopped doing” means ???– probably, being so physically active. (reason4smile not reason for smile, Sorry)

  11. Jean says:

    Robert,
No, we’re still in the process. We have a gazillion pictures of the process on Flickr and also some description on my other blog.

  12. Dixie says:

Haha. My lack of balance would have me in the floor if I trampolined and keyed at the same time! However I am a big fan of “whatever works best for you.”

My playground is still painting furniture. I’ve had some requests from others to paint their furniture. Whether it’s serious interior, or outside playful yard art, I’m having a great time.

Must say, Cheerful Monk, you’re brave and coordinated!!!

  13. Rummuser says:

Jean, I am not being done to either. Good thing you did not say, done in!

Robert and BHB, use your imagination.

Robert, yes, I continue to blog and it will be nice to see you drop in and comment. I can then latch on to your blog and visit if you overcome your block.

  15. Jean says:

    tammy,
I bounce when I read or think, not when I write or draw.

I like Rummy’s new picture too!

it turns out i do have a new playground after all.
a friend in the blogosphere who is a professional, kind of pushed a little and here i am with my own blog.
we’ll see. i have so much to learn, but i’ve already had much fun with it. i want to learn to do pictures, etc. and he is very patient with my lack of tekkie no-how.
i hope you don’t mind that i linked your blog as one of my favorites. if you want me to take it off… let me know! i don’t know the protocol for that. i thought it’d be okay. i want them to know about you. come by for a visit when you can.
i am excited right now so plan to post every day. ha.
we’ll see how long that lasts. lol!!!
    love and hugs,
