Wow, amazing scenery! I hope visitors take notice of that sign and don’t chuck their litter everywhere. Do people imagine that a chocolate-bar wrapper somehow enhances the beauty of their surroundings?

As enticing as the view is, I doubt very much that I will be able to navigate that! I will be too scared to.

I was nervous about going down the big ladder the first time, but fortunately I was in a group with small children. When I saw a four-year-old do it I figured I couldn’t very well chicken out. It’s actually an reasonably easy walk, and it sure is spectacular.

We visited the main part of Bandelier National Monument, probably in 2003 or so, maybe earlier, but were just passing through so only took one short trail. This looks like the kind of trail we would enjoy.

I know not many folks just “pass through” Los Alamos. We came in from Santa Fe and went out over the mountains, getting back on a main road at Cuba.

    • Jean says:

Apparently we can’t drive into the main part of Bandelier between the hours of 9 am and 4 pm. We would have to take a shuttle bus. We like Tsankawi better anyway. We’ve taken the dirt road to Cuba a couple of times.

    • Jean says:

They may have paved part of the road by now, it’s been years since we did it.

    wow. i admire you so!
i could never do that walk. at least not now. not so long ago i could have.
i’m thinking maybe those days are over for me now.
not thinking pessimistically here. just realistically!
and i’ve made my peace with it i think. must simply accept and move on 🙂
i’m so glad you had a wonderful visit with wonderful weather.

    • Jean says:

I’ve had to give up some things too. I used to love walking, but have had to cut down a lot. And I’ve always had to work around my eyes. “Doing the best we can with what we have left,” I say. 🙂

    And to you Jean

Ditto on the scenery – very ancient looking but also magnificent
