Who Says Scientists Never Have Fun?

I worked on income tax yesterday and didn’t finish the post I was writing, but this article, Chemists Have Discovered Marinating Meat With Beer Can Curb Cancer, lifted my spirits and tickled my funny bone. I was grateful for the laugh.

bikehikebabe is back home now and is focusing on healing. It may take quite a while, but at least she’s out of the hospital.

How was your day?

Good to hear that she’s back home. I hope the healing goes well (and faster than expected).

We had some rain on Friday, so yesterday was spent burning brush. We stack it up in multiple piles, but only burn in one location, feeding that fire from the other piles — it keeps the fire localized.

Rain? Lucky you! We could certainly use some.

    • Mike says:

We had more rain today while we were gone to Little Rock and have a good probability for the rest of the week. Our average annual precipitation is 45 to 50 inches.

Up on the land our range in the past ten years or so has been from the mid-teens to the mid-twenties, but it varies a lot. Down here in town we get even less.

The day was a mixture of satisfaction and frustration. One particular crossword puzzle refuses to offer solutions. I supervised the cooking of a couple of dishes which will feature in a blog post soon.

I am glad that BHB is back home. Pleae do give her my best. Thanks.

the same day i did the post on worry…
that evening my friend celia went to the critical care unit with a bleeding ulcer!
she didn’t even know she had it. there had been no pain.
so my day ended with definite unease and concern.
today has dawned bright… sunny… and to be 75 degrees or so.
just taking it easy here. taxes done. waiting for good news on bhb and celia.
    xo

How is she doing? My mother had problems with ulcers and was hospitalized for a bleeding one once. They can be dangerous, but at least they can be treated now. One of her relatives had died of one in the old days. Anyway, I hope she’s doing all right.

life is more or less normal…had a bit of a melt down with my forthcoming assignments at the end of the week; but by today and a short chat with supervisor I’m looking at something from a different angle.

glad to hear BHB is home again, hopefully being patient and etc

    • Jean says:

She’s getting caught up on sleep. At the hospital they wake you up every couple of hours to take your vital signs. I can understand why, but it’s not good for healing.

I’m glad the talk with your supervisor helped.
