Thoughtful Gift

Beate and Tim bought Andy a rocking chair, so now he can sit on the porch and look at the view when he takes a break from his projects.

They brought it up Saturday, but it was windy that night, so the rocking chair was tossed around. It didn’t blow away or break a window, but Sunday they brought up some rope and tethered it to the picnic table. It’s not going anywhere now. Andy says it does rock gently in the breeze.

Recently, a recliner with an electric motor which is a boon for reading, and a Samsung notebook which helps when I am away from home. Both from Manjiree and Ranjan.

what wonderful neighbors and friends they are! that rocking chair would have to be tied down here too. LOLOL. and everything else as well. maybe even the wood! 😀
my most thoughtful gift was from my mother. she was dying of cancer that year at christmas time. wracked with pain and so weak she could hardly speak . . .
she sent the marine to the bookstore to buy me a book i’d mentioned i wanted.
    gladys taber’s ‘stillmeadow daybook’.
even in that condition she was thinking of me.
she was the gift. not the book at all. but she. only she. and she died 5 days later.
not sad. i hope i haven’t dragged everyone down. it’s a lovely memory really.

I think that’s incredibly sweet. I still have memories of my mother as she was dying and I was helping to nurse her. Not depressing at all.

That rocking chair will do well, inside for the winter.

There have been many thoughtful gifts in my life. Particularly one. Still makes me laugh. No, not a rocking chair. Something far more soothing.

One question, Jean: Why are there no plants on your patio?

    U

    • Jean says:

There are no plants on the patio because they wouldn’t survive. The animals would quickly slurp them up and not even say thank you.

  5. Rummuser says:

Sure, a dog with a recliner and a notebook!

You can’t get away, little chair! You may be trying to escape but we’ve got you well tied down now.

I’ve never had a rocking chair, I don’t really see the attraction. A comfortable chair I can sit in for long periods is all I need. Thoughtful gifts? Can’t think of any off-hand. Mostly I get very predictable gifts.
