Precious Work

Work is to be treasured. Save some for tomorrow.

I love that quote! It reminds me to pace myself when I face a technical problem. I used to try to stick with the problem until it was solved and I could forget about it. That often meant not getting to bed until the wee hours of the morning. Nope, not any longer. It’s time for a change.

A while back Mike mentioned that checking the box allowing him to subscribe to follow-up comments didn’t work. I briefly looked at the settings on my blog but didn’t see anything wrong. Then Cathy told me she was having the same problem, so sigh! It was time to face up to it.

It turns out the plugin I was using hadn’t been upgraded for a couple of years, and it no longer worked on the new versions of WordPress. Mike told me what he was using (Jetpack), and I found another plugin, Subscribe to Comments Reloaded, that is supposed to work. Jetpack has a lot more options than I would like — some people call it bloated — so I’ve installed the simpler version. If you do subscribe to comments, please let me know if you have problems.

I did some minimal checking myself, but decided getting some exercise and watching the Super Bowl was more important. If the plugin works, then I’m done. If not, I’ll investigate further. Without being compulsive about it.

Yay, precious work! I’m saving some until later.

I’m rearranging my priorities — since I don’t have as much free time right now. Some things can wait.

i used to be much more regimented. time-wise anyway. had to get things done on the weekend. a long commute left little time on workdays.
and i was always tired anyway.
now i clean when i want to. i run errands when i want to. i do everything when i want to. it’s not how my gram would approve! but it works for me! no pun intended! LOL

my life has changed, a year away from Uni so I’m less pressured because I am doing home-based study. Yes, I have to do many more hours than Uni but it seems quite different because I’m not hamstrung with a dedicated time frame.

I am still sifting/sorting my life/home up but I have made quite significant progress especially last weekend when I needed “floor space to evolve” so that my freebie cleaning lady could come by – I won the prize in the power company’s Dec – Feb thing. I also won a tea-towel but to date it’s not shown up here. That reminds me must go and click the daily prize draw and hope I get something else…

Having made the floor spaces become clear, I kept thinking about minimalist Tammy 🙂 not that I could truly say I became minimalist because a lot of the stuff just went into the double closet space or the spare room…

I agree, it’s not the hours, it’s how much autonomy we have, how much control over our time. I love independent study for that reason.
