Busy Day, Short Post

Andy gnawed at the truck-in-the-ditch problem yesterday. Even with a winch on the Jeep it’s easier to pull a Jeep out of a ditch with the truck than to pull a truck and snowplow out of a ditch with the Jeep. He would be calling Orlando for help if it were the beginning of winter, but as it he’ll keep seeing what he can do first. There’s no hurry.

I had good luck with the red tape problem — getting an incorrect tax form corrected. The fellow assures me it will be sent in time for us to file our taxes. We’re relaxed about that too. The main thing is they now realize they made a mistake and are no longer arguing about it.

I spent much of the rest of the day dealing with a technical problem about a modem. It wasn’t important, so it was easy to be patient. The modem still won’t work, but I learned a lot, and I hadn’t spent that much for it. Yay, education! The non-formal kind — that’s my favorite.

How was your day?

If you are talking about March 2, 2015, I had a grand outing with my good friend and took in a movie. If you are talking about March 3, 2015, it has been a very quiet day full of reading and crossword puzzles with the exception of one hour in the morning when a mentee came over to discuss some personal matters. Excellent lunch and a good siesta and now ready to take on what the evening has on offer.

How was/is my day? Jean, a truck may do. A crane even more uplifting. Or, in absence of all hope, may snow keep covering my foot steps.

anticipating meeting the marine later to eat together. our snow all gone. only a memory now. and the temps in the upper 50’s! although… another arctic blast on the way for tomorrow. at least the birds and wildlife get a respite in between.
right now i’m waiting for management to come and inspect my apartment!
as long as i’ve lived in apartments… off and on my entire life… i’ve never had that before!
quote: “we are having our annual mortgage inspection on said date…
we will need to enter your apartment to do a brief look for the lender to make sure all appliances, fixtures are in place. if you have any questions feel free to contact the office. thank you in advance for your cooperation.”
    how very odd!!!
do people rid their apartments of stoves and refridgerators? LOLOL
    oh well.
i’m ready. 😀 everything is in place. she is now 65 minutes late of the time of arrival she gave me. and i’m still smiling. 🙂

    well…
after waiting all day. they never have come. i finallly called the office.
she said they weren’t coming. they did come but only took exterior pictures.
the manager said they will not be using these people again.
i asked why the inspection in upscale apartments? she said it was standard procedure of the management corporation who is managing the property for the lender.
oh well! 🙂 nice that i didn’t have any important thing to do or place to be today!

Isn’t life a waiting game? It’s hard to ‘live in the present’ when we’re actually waiting.

      tammy,
If you did have an appointment or had to go to work, would the management have let the person in? That’s what they do here. But they don’t inspect our apartment once a year, and ours isn’t as high-end as yours.

At some point they’re going to tear out our windows and replace them with better ones. Not a bad idea, but it’s going to be a major nuisance while they do it.

I hope you had a good time with the marine. I’m so glad you have him.

We’re supposed to have more cold and maybe a bit of snow tomorrow, but it’s not supposed to be as much as this past weekend. We need precipitation, but more rain like we had last night would be just fine. 🙂

Tonight is our annual Pinorealsoa dinner, the 2500 acres that 20 of us own where our cabin is. Tom ordered the food & I’ll forego the most expensive one–shrimp & scollops & go with smoked salmon. It will be laden with Buttery Cream sauce but Who Cares! Only once a yr.

My problem is I grew up on cream that I had to at least spoon out, maybe dig out, for my cereal. It’s my downfall. I’d want rich creamy sauce at every meal.

my landlord waxes and wanes on inspections – mostly because every space we visit on it – has something he should fix – usually decor…

if I suggest anything, it never gets done then – European women do not tell Indian males how to fix something! But then say some years later when I suggest an expensive material my earlier fix-it which is usually much cheaper is suddenly their idea…

but if the Indian male is not making the decision and it is the NZ-born daughter I make a lot of progress and she usually knows whatever it was “in this case/stove” has been repaired a few many times – she will get me a new one!

However, major VIP maintenance has caught up with them 3x in the last 2 years where they have had to spend mega-bucks so there have been no inspections!!! Suits me just fine 🙂 Hate having to cope with his poorly spoken English…

    • Jean says:

I’m with you about not wanting inspections. That’s one of the things I like about living in this apartment. For the most part we don’t bother them and they don’t bother us!
