Another Busy Day

Andy spent about three hours clearing trees off the roads before he could get up to the land yesterday. There were eight trees in all — this one was the biggest one:

3-15-16-Big-Tree

But he says it wasn’t the hardest one to deal with. The two live ones that had blown down were even harder because of all the branches. The fact that live ones are going is sad.

He said it was definitely breezy up there. The wind didn’t knock him down, but a couple of times it pushed him around a bit — not too surprising when you see the size of that tree it knocked over!

Down here the new Chromebook I had ordered for him came, and I set it up so it should be easy for him to use up on the land.

I’ve configured it so all Andy has to do is push the on/off button and type in his gmail password. His gmail account comes right up so he can write his brief message, push send, then push the on/off switch and he’s done. Until now he’s been bringing an old Macbook up and back every day, and we wanted something inexpensive and easy-to-use to leave up there. If it lasts it should be great. If….

Keep your fingers crossed for us. 🙂

    GOOD GRIEF charlie brown!!!
    they’re getting bigger and bigger!
too bad there’s not a way to bulldoze down a swath of dead ones
on either side of the road so the rest can then fall as they may and not block it. my goodness.
this could go on forever really. 🙂
    bless andy.

It’s going to be interesting to see if he can keep up with them. He’s not getting any younger, strangely enough. 🙂

    Mine are crossed.

Any smartphone should be able to do the same things you expect this gadget to do. A non smartphone can be used to send and receive text messages by sms.

The first thing we tried was texting using our cell phones. I can usually reach him, but he mostly can’t reach me that way.

  3. I find texting is fine for really short messages. More often then not, I text people and say, “I just sent you an email, please read”!

    • Jean says:

That’s a good use of texting. I’ve actually done the equivalent with Andy, since he can usually get my texts but doesn’t have his computer on.

what a magnificent tree that once was – and now it’s a worthwhile log… which could become an photographic art work 🙂

I can’t believe Andy does all that he does.

I hope the Chromebook works out, I would think it would!

It had problems today, so I had him bring it and the WiFi router down so I could figure out the problem. It took a few hours, but I think it’s working now. Fingers crossed. 🙂

I do like the way it turns on and shuts down so fast.
