Bears as Product Testers

The first time the bears steal human food, they are relocated 30 miles away. The second time, it’s 60 miles, and the third time it’s 100. After that, they become consumer product consultants.

At the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center, just outside Yellowstone National Park, eight bears with a demonstrated aptitude for raiding trash cans, breaking into parked vehicles or burgling chicken coops have seen their skills put to use as product testers.

  1. I can’t believe the persistence of that bear! And it seems to know there is food in the container, so sense of smell must be over the top. The bottom line is, the bears are destroyed to make humans safe and comfortable, yet they are in their own home.

The bears that are destroyed are the ones that have been fed by humans. As the fellow in the ad says, if you use bear-proof containers you are saving the bears. The bears that do the testing are well fed and protected.

I have not seen a promo in as bad taste as this ever.

definitely do not feed wildlife – even if the poor thing looks starved. People think they are doing the animal a favour…it’s only some “crumbs”, “poor wee thing”

animals then realise it easier to raid a trash can, an untended picnic – easy money (err food)
