Narrow Roads

A few other people plowed the common road yesterday morning, so it looked better than it did after Andy’s first pass Tuesday.

Notice the road is only wide enough for one car now. Andy met a car at this spot and had to back up a few hundred yards (around the bend in the picture) to a spot wide enough for the other car to pass.

No one has driven up the road to Beate and Tim’s.

Fascinating! And he is still there having a ball it looks like.

  2. I’m recalling similar situations during my years in Alberta’s north country. Having to back up (sometimes up to a quarter mile) to allow another vehicle to pass, was commonplace.

I was thinking beate and tim live on the mountain full time. do they not?
it’s not like them to leave their road unplowed I think.
and also… (forgive my monkey mind at work!) but it seems dangerous for it to be only passable by ONE car! what if there’s literally no place to back to or move around?
    wow.

They’re professors down in Texas and mostly are here only in the summer. Last year they were on sabbatical but they rented an apartment in our complex for the winter.

About backing up — it’s not dangerous. There is always a place to back up to, but it may take a while. Andy is comfortable backing up, other people not so much.

I don’t know but the pictures – especially when it’s on the jeep – just don’t look “real” – like a large piece of shiny white chalk or polystyrene – sorry I know it’s not but that’s what it looks like – as if you could just lift up an entire piece and put it off the road…or even slice through the side pieces and make a passing bay right there…

Thanks for asking. That’s snow from his first trip up after the big snow. He had to push the Jeep through some snow drifts before he could get up there and get the truck and plow.

I’m glad Andy enjoys it so much
but for the life of me, I don’t know why!
    LOLOLOLOLOL!

Wow, so it’s kind of soft but firmly packed, I’m intrigued because I don’t live in a place that has anything bigger than hailstones which usually quickly disappear!
