Times Like These

In times like these, it helps to recall that there have always been times like these.
—Paul Harvey

A kakistocracy (English pronunciation) is a system of government which is run by the worst, least qualified, or most unscrupulous citizens. The word was coined as early as the 17th century. It was also used by English author Thomas Love Peacock in 1829, but gained significant usage in the 21st century.

Sigh. Do you think it helps to know our problems aren’t unique?

I thought that knowing that our problems aren’t unique and are really not that bad on an absolute scale is a key reason why the monk is able to remain cheerful? Thanks for filling me in with this word, since it helps me to complete my picture of Political Science. I now understand that the US has two major political parties: One is the Kakistocratic Party. The other is the Kleptocratic Party.

there is a word in the dynasty periods of China – but I can’t remember what it is…definitely the leader “gone rogue” but of course that’s not the word.

Having a rogue smoke alarm inhouse is bad enough…it’s been a long day since 3am today…I’ve written about it – and updated twice in the comments.

I may have (fingers crossed) stopped it beeping, but only because I took this little clip thing out and then left it a few minutes and pushed it back into the OFF bit – sharp/hard/firm…

oh yes. times like these again. or still! love the quote by paul harvey.
I used to love the commercial about the cave man who was railing at the room mate cave man about not getting his mail delivered faster … and he walked out and got stepped on by a dinosaur. everybody has their problems in every age apparently.

I never saw that commercial, but it’s a good one. I would rather live in these imperfect times than during the ice ages. 😀
