Wind and Weather

We had another casualty from the wind — the TV antenna on the roof of our building blew over so we have no TV reception. It isn’t a big deal for us because we can stream the three short bits we watch — the weather forecast for Andy and the late night jokes by Stephen Colbert and Seth Meyers for me.

The new management doesn’t include the antennas as part of their maintenance, but Andy will see if they will approve us hiring someone to fix the problem. As I said, it’s not a big problem for us, but the fellow in the adjoining apartment watches TV a lot, so I’m guessing he will be interested.

In the meantime Andy is getting the roads ready for plowing. He’s been working on that about an hour or so a day and should be done in a couple more days — assuming there isn’t another windstorm, of course!

no windstorms here, seems like summer dropped in so very nice…hot and sunny. I’ve been keeping an eye on long range weather forecast, looks like it might be okay for beach dancing/walking next week…

I don’t have a tv at all but I do have a massive cordage coming from the gadget on the roof if I so wanted one, I have it corralled behind a cabinet that holds stuff to do telecommunications….

I’m glad you are having good weather. As I said, we don’t watch much TV directly, but we’ve had it here for over 40 years, so it seems strange without it.

Climate has been doing funny things here too. We had unseasonal heavy rains for three days that raised the temperatures and since last night the winter temperature has returned. Many friends are complaining that it has affected their health!

finally after about 3 days of winds gusting to over 50 mph we have had some calm days. it’s always windy here. but usually not with such high gusts.
the calm days are even more appreciated!
“when the wind comes sweeping down the plains” pretty much says it all!
I don’t watch a lot of regular tv. and literally none in the daytime. it’s a wasteland! but I have been enjoying the hallmark channel. i also like seth and stephen… though generally catch them online.

I think of “when the winds come sweeping down the plains” a lot since I’ve met you. I wish you had longer periods of nice weather!

  4. Wild weather has a way of keeping us busy! So far, we have had a calm autumn and start to winter—but we know we’ve only just begun! BTW, I like Colbert and Myers too. They are the best of the ‘late nights’!

As I understand it you will get more precipitation because of la Nina while we will get less. We don’t pay much attention to that anymore because the last el Nino was a bust for us.

    Very windy here
And we hit an all time high today I think
    Almost 70?
Tomorrow it will drop of course, because it’s the weekend.
    I actually prefer the Jimmy’s.
First choice would be Kimmel and then Fallon.
But I rarely stay up late enough for either.

    Fluctuating temperatures.
