So Much for That Forecast

When Andy left this morning he cheerfully said he didn’t expect to have trouble getting up to the land this morning but he might not make it back tonight (because of trees on the road). I told him don’t let any fall on his head, and I would check the Garmin.

Down here the dangerous wind forecast for this afternoon was downgraded as the time approached.

About 1 p.m.

About 2 p.m.

No complaints, of course. It was fun to watch, because it was a lazy day. (I got to bed late last night after dealing with some technical problems.) No doubt about it, with our modern gadgets we’re at no loss for entertainment.

except for me it’s NOT entertainment! I wish I had your patience. but YUK.
now Tempi and Sammy are my little goodwill ambassadors tonight.
we have bad things going on in our ranch country. I wrote about it on Tempi’s blog.
but she and Sammy managed to send me to bed with a smile.
finally the fires have come. we’re dry like you are. and high wind for four days now. the fires are huge already and not contained at all.
and it’s to be windy all night.
the wind just roars. and to me when there’re wildfires they’re scarier than anything. let it just RAIN!!!
and holding good thoughts for Andy. kinda wish he were just home with you!
    XOXO

Andy came back at the regular time. We did get blown quite a bit when we went grocery shopping and were glad it was just “windy”, not “dangerously windy.”

Thank you for telling us about your wildfires, I just looked them up. Andy is guessing we will have one this year, I’m hoping it will wait a bit more. According to the wildfire prediction map we will be in the most danger in June. Oklahoma will be in the most danger this month except for the panhandle, which will still have a high potential in May and June. July looks more favorable for both of us. Yes, wildfires are nasty things, just part of climate change/variation, whether natural or manmade. All the more devastating as more and more people are in danger — they’re guessing July will be the worst for California. Bertrand Russell wasn’t kidding.

Somebody must have bribed the weathermen!

  3. Rain makes so much difference! Here, we have desert conditions later on in the year, but this spring has been very wet, with rain falling every other day. The longer this weather lasts, the better our forest conditions will be later on. I usually love the sun, but have lately seen the value of a more mixed climate.

We love rain, and don’t get nearly as much as we would like. But we can understand why some people don’t always agree. 🙂

  4. wow keep safe tammy…
