Some Kind of Help…

Some kind of help is the kind of help that helping’s all about. Some kind of help is the kind of help we can all do without.
—Marlo Thomas

This reminds me of when my sister and I were little and we wanted to do something nice for our daddy, so we washed the car. We couldn’t understand why he wasn’t happy about it — in fact, he was downright grumpy when he went out and washed it again.

  1. I’m pretty sure we have all “done some help” for apparently all the wrong reasons…though I can’t pinpoint one of my own right now, that fits this scenario.

Brain still not functioning on all levels but that might be because there is a deep fog here this morning…this happens a lot in winter time here, the hot/air air from the 2 oceans mix it up and Auckland, the narrow isthmus suffers…should clear by late morning…

your dad’s reaction is the same as mine probably would have been.
and today I think parents are taught it’s the ‘thought’ that counts and should be encouraged!
another cute cartoon however! šŸ˜€ xo

Some time after our marriage I had gone on a business trip to a town which was famous for its saris and bought one for Urmeela. She took one look at it when I gave it to her and made me promise that I will never again buy anything for her and instead just give her the money to buy what she wanted. For 38 years I did exactly that.

  4. Looks like Dad’s out of luck!

This is what Iā€™m dealing with right now.
One of my workers is always creating work for others.
I just had a staff meeting Thursday night and thought it was addressed and yet Friday morning, I again walked into a disaster.
His help is no help at all.
So while your dad maybe should have thanked you and your sister for your efforts, I get how he probably felt.
It gets exhausting cleaning up and doing things the right way.
Personally, Iā€™m at the end of my rope.
