Miscommunication

People miscommunicate all the time, but we continue to assume other people will understand what we’re trying to say. It can have tragic consequences sometimes, but it’s also a great source of humor. This video of Jeanne Robertson I showed a while back is a great example.

Will we learn from that? Oh, probably not.

Here’s a short one relevant to North Carolina now:

This one is only partly about wrong assumptions.

  1. yes, I’ve watched the “carpet cleaning” clip – interesting how not only does miscommunication of a simple matter but what also happens when “left brain” went to the store – he was I think given the impression a machine would work better than a simple spray can!

just this last week when the new property person came to inspect, he had note in the data base about the “left side garden” – I really was amused as said “patch/strip” is no more than a completely weed laden strip of earth…and he said it was good that it had been cleared. Oops no it’s not cleared, my lawn care guy run over it with his mower!

I keep thinking I should put in some nice flowers but somehow that is very low on a list (oops on no list)…

when I came here 2 years ago – I wanted to have gardens but somehow that hasn’t eventuated and probably wont…

that Jeanne is funny. I’d watched the carpet clip before. but am going to come back in the morning to see the other two. I like to start the morning smiling.
Doreen emailed me. some of her neighbors there stayed. and they’re apparently updating her. so far she (and they) just have siding damage and some roofing blown away. (which might lead to water damage I would think.)
but they sold all their furniture when they moved from NY. so hopefully it will be an easy fix for them. the tragedy is the new young mother and baby both dying from a tree crashing onto their house. the father is in the hospital.
    life on this planet.

Yes, life on this planet. It is what it is. I’m glad that things might be all right for Doreen.

]I knew you had already watched the carpet talk, but I included it again because it was so appropiate.

    • Cindi says:

Good to read that Doreen’s home is ok, all things considered.
The woman and her baby who died… it’s just heartbreaking.
I heard that her husband is in critical condition too.
      Life is so unfair.

  3. Jean – now watched the other 2 clips posted (I’m sure they weren’t here this morning)
Tammy – that’s good and bad for your friend Doreen, as least they were wise enough to evacuate – sad about the people who lost their lives…

You inspire me to write about a great miscommunication from my memory bank. You will naturally get to know about it as I will link this post to it.

I always learn something when I watch Jeanne Robertson! She has a talent for finding the absurd in any situation!

  6. tammy j says:

my gosh. she is like trying not to eat a whole sack of dorito chips for me!
I find myself laughing every time!
I have been watching first one then another then another. and now I want some real salsa and dorito chips! LOLOL!
    XOXO

    She is very funny.
That miscommunication problem happens to me at work quite a bit but I believe that it’s also a man/woman thing.
Both my boss and the man who works for me, never really listen to me.
I wouldn’t call it miscommunication now that I really think about it though.
    No.
    I believe it’s chauvinism.
I hate it. It makes me very upset.
