Kaitlin, Torben and their two dogs are driving from the Midwest for Christmas…their route is shown on the map in red. We’re always happy to see them, but don’t encourage them to come for the holidays because of the weather and traffic. They decided to chance it and are scheduled to arrive late tonight, the good Lord willing and the creek don’t rise. Needless to say we’re all watching the weather…wish us luck. I’ll update this post later.
I must say, it tickles me be able to check the weather on the web and to use Photoshop to impose their route on the map. What great toys we have now-a-days!
I’m especially happy, of course, that as I write this their route looks fairly clear.

They arrived safely in time for a late dinner. We’ll try to go up to the land tomorrow to get our Christmas tree. It started snowing here around 3 this afternoon and it’s still coming down.
We are a little north of you, right in the middle of that storm. It is a question as to whether Jerry’s son will be able to drive up from Seattle today to be with us for Christmas. He did manage to get in from Dallas to Seattle yesterday, but seems to be stuck there.
We do have great toys, don’t we, and I wish I was more adept at using them.

I am too far away but my thoughts and prayers are with all of you. I hope that every thing works out alright. I look forward to your update. All the best.
See on the map where those two “L”s are and white stuff above and to their right? That’s where we are. It’s no wonder that the only inkling we had that the sun rose was that it wasn’t pitch black.
Speaking of coolness and maps, I was really keen on the map in the airplane that I could check our flight progress on during the start of our vacation. But that map didn’t show any of the clouds that rained upon us as we landed.
Square Peg Guys last blog post..Winter Solstice
Hi Jean,
Merry Christmas!
Anne,
Thanks for telling me where you are. I love knowing more about people.
I’ve been reading about the storms hitting the Northwest. Good luck! WIll you be telling us how it turns out on your blog?
rummuser,
They arrived just fine. They had about five hours of hard driving in Illinois and some snow here the last three hours of their trip, but they’ve rented a four-wheel-drive cars which helps a lot. Thanks for good thoughts and prayers. I appreciate that.
Square Peg Guy,
Thanks for letting me know where you are. I love maps. When we used to fly (my husband refuses to now because of all the hassle) I used to try to track our progress on the map in the inflight magazine. What you describe would be even better.
Diane,
Thanks! Merry Christmas to all of you, too.
Ahhhh! A big sigh of relief, huh.
You guys have a wonderful Christmas!
Scotts last blog post..Iām Getting There
Scott,
Thank you! The same to you. š
I have friends and relatives whose travel plans were changed due to weather over the holiday season. Nonetheless, what was most intriguing was how their delayed flights, changed itineraries and re-directions via train and bus taught them patience, expanded their sense of adventure and encouraged them to reframe the nature of their circumstances. We always have the power to shape how we think and feel. It is empowering to realize and even moreso to choose to change.
Liara,
Amen to that! Thanks for coming by.
